A Message from the Principal - Mrs. Bookman
Dear Suffield Family,
It was a lively afternoon at Suffield! Today, the middle school jazz band showcased their talents, providing a wonderful opportunity to see our former students shine. Following the performance, students moved into their LEAD groups for the final session of the year.
Next week promises more excitement as we welcome Field High School's graduating seniors for their traditional walk through Suffield. Later in the week, our 5th graders will embark on a camp adventure, 1st graders will explore the Akron Children's Museum, and kindergarteners will enjoy a trip to the Akron Zoo. What a week we have ahead!
Just a reminder, if you have a student who is ready to start kindergarten next year, please visit this link to sign up. Please share the link with other friends or family members you know who might need it! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0448AFA82FA7F85-47564402-kindergarten

Leadership Roles for May
A Friendly Reminder: Check the Lost & Found When You Visit Our School
We're thrilled to welcome you to our school, whether it's for a parent-teacher conference, a special event, or just to spend some time with your child's class. As you explore our wonderful learning environment, we wanted to take a moment to remind you about an important stop you can make while you're here - our Lost and Found!
Our Lost and Found is a treasure trove of forgotten items, from jackets and lunch boxes to water bottles and notebooks. Sometimes, the smallest and most valuable items end up there, waiting to be reunited with their owners. We encourage you to check the Lost and Found area located in the front hallway while you're visiting. All items not claimed by June 6th will be donated to Goodwill.
We also recommend labeling your child's items with their name and contact information to make it easier for us to return lost items promptly.

Anxiety in Children
Anxiety, there are many different things the parents and guardians can do to help their child when they are feeling anxious. Your student is not alone, childhood anxiety has been becoming more common with over 4.4 million children from ages 3-17 being diagnosed with anxiety. Here are some things you can do to support your child when they are feeling anxious:
- Remind your child that their feelings are valid and okay. Give them time and space to share how they feel without judgment.
- Set a time each day/week to talk about their worries.
- Help your child focus on what they can control.
Help your child develop ways to cope with and manage their anxiety, such as:
- Deep breathing
- Talking to you or another adult
- Journaling or drawing
- Focusing on what they can control
- Using positive self-talk
- Exercising

Birthday Treats
At this time, we will allow Birthday Treats to be brought to school. We are required to inform you of the Healthy Eating Guidelines (see below) and suggest that you use this when selecting a treat. Whatever you choose, please note that all treats brought to school for the purpose of sharing with others, need to be prepackaged so we are able to know and see the ingredients list. There are many students who have a variety of food allergies and having the ingredients listed helps the school nurse determine if a student with allergies can eat a particular treat.
Student Medications
If you have medications that you need to have at school for your child, DO NOT send them to school with your child on the bus. Please bring them to school. The office is open from 8:00 am-4:00 pm. Please call the school if you have questions.
Suffield CARES
Suffield CARES helps provide “short-term emergency needs” to families in Suffield. If you are in danger of having your electric or heat terminated, being evicted or have other emergency needs, call Mrs. Bookman at school or Chief Rasnick at (330)628-9240.
