Supporting DPM 5th Grader Olivia Rubeck
Our community is coming together to support Olivia Rubeck, a 5th grader at Deer Path Middle School (DPM), who has been courageously battling leukemia and recently faced an additional challenge—a traumatic brain injury. Olivia’s journey has been incredibly difficult, but she has shown immense strength, and now it’s our turn to help lift her and her family up during this challenging time.
To aid in Olivia’s medical expenses and ongoing recovery efforts, a t-shirt fundraiser has been organized where you can purchase a specially designed t-shirt with all proceeds from the sales going directly to Olivia and her family to help with the financial costs they are facing. Not only will your contribution provide financial relief, but it will also send a powerful message of hope and solidarity to Olivia during her fight.
To buy a t-shirt and make a difference, scan the QR Code below. Every t-shirt sold will make a significant impact and help Olivia on her road to recovery.
Let’s come together as a community to show Olivia that she is not alone in this battle. Your kindness and generosity can help make a world of difference. Thank you for your support!

Classic Toyota of Waukegan Donates Car to Lake Forest High School
Lake Forest High School received a generous donation from Classic Toyota of Waukegan. Fred Marks, the owner of Classic Toyota and a Lake Forest resident, has donated a 2012 Dodge Charger to the school’s Safety and Security Department. This donation will enhance the department’s ability to patrol the campus and support the safety of students, staff, and community members throughout the school day and at after-school events.
Fred Marks, a parent of three Lake Forest High School students (LFHS 2017, 2020, and 2025), has maintained a close connection with LFHS Safety and Security Department Assistant John “JT” Teichman. Marks and Teichman first met in Libertyville when Marks was a teenage football and baseball player coached by Teichman. Their bond has remained strong over the years. Fred’s desire to support the community and his former coach has inspired him to make this meaningful donation.
“We are immensely grateful to Fred Marks and Classic Toyota for their continued generosity,” said Dr. Matthew L. Montgomery, Superintendent of Lake Forest Schools. “This donation represents not only a significant addition to our security resources but also the strong community ties that help make Lake Forest a wonderful place for our students.”
“I appreciate his thoughtfulness and that Fred cares about everyone at the school,” shared John Teichman. “Through our lifelong friendship, I’ve known him as a young man and have seen him mature into a well-rounded man, just a very good person.”
This is the third vehicle Classic Toyota has donated to LFHS, further strengthening the partnership between the school and the local dealership. Fred Marks took extra care to inspect and prepare the vehicle before donating it, ensuring it was ready to serve the school at no cost.
“This vehicle will be a valuable tool for our team,” said Chuck Walsh, Director of Safety and Security at LFHS. “We are fortunate to have strong community support that directly impacts our ability to maintain a safe campus.”

FAN Event : How to Raise a Citizen (And Why It's Up to You to Do It)
October 30, 2024, 7:00 pm
We're excited for the upcoming online FAN event featuring Lindsey Cormack, Ph.D. and Heidi Stevens. In her new book, How to Raise a Citizen (And Why It's Up to You to Do It), Cormack shows how engaging with children about our political system at a young age can help to better prepare them to engage with and understand politics and be catalysts for change. She argues that we all bear a little responsibility for our children’s lack of understanding about these subjects; our political system is a complicated one to understand, our society has an aversion to talking about politics, and our schools are stretched.
