Granada Hills Community GARAGE SALE
Saturday, October 12th 9a-1p
Spread the word and join with households around the neighborhood for our community-wide garage sale. Households are welcome to have a few items or a whole yard full of treasures. Please email Emily Lawson, our volunteer Garage Sale Coordinator, at emilyclairelawson@gmail.com with your address if you plan to participate. She will advertise a list of participating addresses. (only addresses received by October 5th will be included in the advertisement, but you are welcome to participate whether or not you submitted your address!) Please plan to mark your home/driveway with a flashy sign to draw people in as they drive around the neighborhood.
And remember - 2nd Sat of both October and April are the regular neighborhood sale days!
Halloween is Coming to Granada Hills!
Our annual HOA Trunk-or-Treat event will be on Saturday, 10/26 at 4:30 down at the park. Please consider participating by decorating the trunk of your car and driving it onto the grass near the basketball courts so that the little goblins and ghouls can walk around and trick or treat. To add to the fun, we encourage any interactive games that would be fun for little kiddos (i.e. Throw the bean bag in the mouth of the pumpkin and get some candy). Let's all work together to make this a memorable event!
If you are hosting a "trunk" or a table, please RSVP below!

Get Ready for More Changes in Traffic Flow
The Oak Hill Parkway Project (OHPP) is chugging along, and it sounds like there are some significant changes coming up that will impact our little corner of the world here in Granada Hills. According to their latest newsletter, they are expecting to complete the Scenic Brook cross-street bridge very soon, and they will also be shifting traffic to the frontage roads between Convict Hill and Scenic Brook (that's us!). This change will impact the intersection of 290 and 1826, but also the intersection at 290 and El Rey. Click below to read the full newsletter. We will try to keep you updated as we receive more details!
Neighborhood Survey Results
A big thanks to everyone who filled out the neighborhood survey last month for our raffle, and congratulations to Sarah Calvert on El Rey, who won the $50 raffle prize at our last board meeting!
We received some fantastic ideas and learned a lot about our neighbors. For example, look at the pie chart that shows how long folks have been in the neighborhood. What fantastic diversity of tenure! Also, the majority of the respondents shared that the focus areas of the HOA (Pool/park/playground maintenance, social events, park beautification, security, communications, advocacy and welcoming new neighbors) are all areas of importance to them, so it seems that we are on the right track! We will continue to sprinkle in results and responses from the survey in each newsletter. The loudest message coming from the survey results, however, was just how much we all cherish this neighborhood and the people in it. When asked what they liked most about Granada Hills, one respondent shared:
"That it's a real community where neighbors are interested in and watch out for each other. I love living here and raising kids here!"
The survey link (below) will remain open for any resident who would like to complete it and have their voice heard. We will revisit any new information received during our board meetings.
