New Changes to the Marching Show
Over the summer the band staff has been working hard to prepare for the upcoming marching band season. We have been planning, writing, and choreographing the show. During that time, we made a decision to go a different direction with the theme and also decided to change the ending.
The overall show has stayed the same and the first three pieces that you have learned did not change. However we all felt the ending needed to be more exciting. So, to give you a little glimpse into your new ending and your new theme, we have created a little preview video for you below. The song you will hear in this video is your new closer. We hope you like the new look and feel to your show.
The Newman Smith band is proud to announce your 2019 Marching Show entitled: Ascension!
Welcome Mr. Chris Ceo
Born and raised in Los Angeles and a recent Dallas transplant Chris is the new Director of Colorguard at Newman Smith High School. Chris fell in love with colorguard while playing the Clarinet in his high school marching band. Chris performed with the Black Knights Independent A and Open Winterguards from 2001-2004. After taking a few years off from performing to focus on instructing and his career in the Medical Field, he returned as a performer with Diamante World in 2012. He has been teaching colorguard since 2002 and has played an integral role in the growth and success of many groups in the greater Los Angeles area. Starting his teaching career at La Canada High school in 2002, Chris went on to teach at West Ranch HS, Highland HS and his alma matter, Canyon HS. Throughout his years teaching, Chris has developed a deep appreciation for overall show design and has assisted in the success, not only of the colorguards, but of the Marching band programs as well. He has also had the privilege of working with his good friends Mario and Brandi Ramirez at Ayala High School, the Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps, and Diamante Independent World colorguard.
When Mr. Ceo isn't teaching or working, he enjoys spending time with his friends and family, going to the beach, amusement parks, catching up on Netflix, and supporting his former students at Drum Corps or Winterguard shows. New to Dallas, he also loves to explore new restaurants and fun things to do with his partner in their new home town.
Chris is very excited to begin this new chapter in his life and to be working with Newman Smith High School Colorguard.
