TERRIFIC TROJANS
SMG students receive a Terrific Trojan sticker when they are "caught" being safe, responsible and respectful. After wearing the sticker during the day, the Terrific Trojan places it on the hallway bulletin board. We love seeing how full the bulletin board becomes by the end of the school year.
The Teacher Creature Brought Friends!
The Teacher Creature program allowed Kindgergarten, first, second and third grade the unique opportunity to meet some new and exotic friends: chameleon, tegu, koatamundi, boa constrictor, kookaburra (kingfisher), baby kangaroo (Joey).
1st Grade Poetry
First grade is learning about the various forms of poetry. Today we wrote a list poem called "Ouch" with reasons we might need a Band-Aid.
5th Grade Math Measuring Activity
5th Grade Tree Transpiration Investigation
Transpiration is the way water moves through plants. The tree roots absorb water from the soil, and then the water is pulled up the tree, eventually reaching the leaves. As the water reaches the leaves, the sun heats the water, converting from a liquid into vapor, which is called evaporation.
If we put a plastic bag over a branch of a tree, it should fill with the water vapor that the tree is releasing. If there is enough water vapor in the bag, it will condense into the liquid form of water, and we will be able to see it.

Austin Trip
Junior High students boarded the bus to Austin at 6:00AM on Friday. Their first stop was the granite Texas statehouse which stands as a testament to the history of the Lone Star State. The Texas State Capitol is the capitol and seat of government of the U.S. state of Texas. It houses the offices and chambers of the Texas Legislature and of the Governor of Texas.
Next stop was a tour of the Bullock Texas State History Museum which tells the story of Texas. Students explored the hull of La Belle, saw the largest and most varied assemblage of La Salle Odyssey artifacts, and enjoyed a variety of interactive and multimedia displays.
Before returning home, students visited the Texas State Cemetery, the final resting place of Texas' most notable sons and daughters, including Stephen F. Austin and Barbara Jordan.
Stations of the Cross
Many thanks to third grade for hosting Stations of the Cross this week.
