FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK
Dear Edison Families,
As we approach the holiday season, we are reminded of the power and importance of gratitude. While many of us celebrate Thanksgiving as a time to gather with family and friends, share a meal, and reflect on what we are thankful for, gratitude is a practice that can benefit us all year round—whether or not we celebrate the holiday. At Edison, we believe that gratitude is a value that strengthens our community, fosters kindness, and helps us recognize the many gifts we have in our lives.
This November, as we honor both Thanksgiving and Indigenous Heritage Month, we’ve had the privilege of learning from the wisdom and traditions of Native American cultures. Indigenous peoples have long recognized the importance of showing gratitude for the Earth and all its gifts. A powerful lesson we’ve learned from these traditions is that gratitude isn’t just something we feel—it’s something we practice every day, through our actions and words.
To help our students deepen their understanding of gratitude and Indigenous cultures, we engaged in a whole-school read-aloud of Giving Thanks: A Native American Morning Message. This beautiful book shares a message of reverence for nature and encourages us to give thanks for the simple blessings we often take for granted. Additionally, we were honored to welcome a Navajo elder and his family to our school for a special assembly. They shared their stories, traditions, and beliefs with us, offering our students a unique opportunity to learn firsthand about Native American culture and the deep connection to the land and community that is central to their way of life.
At Edison, we have so much to be grateful for. We are fortunate to have a dedicated and passionate team of educators who work tirelessly to ensure each child receives the best possible instruction. Our teachers bring enthusiasm, creativity, and care into the classroom every day. Alongside them, our instructional assistants provide crucial support, helping to ensure that all students have the resources and attention they need to succeed.
We are also grateful for our kitchen staff, who prepare nutritious meals with love and care, and for our supervision staff, who work diligently to create a safe and welcoming environment for our students throughout the school day. Our custodial team ensures that our school is always clean, well-maintained, and beautiful. The office staff works behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly, and their efforts make all of our work possible.
We are deeply thankful for our families who entrust us with their children’s education. Your partnership and support help bring our school to life, and together, we work to create an environment where every student can thrive. And, of course, we are incredibly grateful for our students—the heart of our school—who come each day with open minds and eager hearts. They challenge themselves, push through obstacles, and grow not just academically but also socially and emotionally. They are learning to be not only scholars, but also kind, thoughtful, and responsible individuals. Their dedication and joy inspire all of us to keep doing our best every day.
At Edison, we know that we are stronger because of each of you. Juntos a través de dos idiomas—together through two languages—we build a school community that values respect, gratitude, and a commitment to each other’s success.
As we reflect on all we have to be thankful for, I want to express my deep gratitude to each of you for your contributions to our school. We could not be who we are without the support of our staff, families, and students. Thank you for everything you do to make Edison such a special place.
Wishing you all a season filled with peace, joy, and gratitude.
Warmly,
Directora Ipiña

ART CART VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
If you have been interested in volunteering on campus, engaging with students, and helping the school, then we have an opportunity for you! We are looking for parents to support a lunchtime Art Cart.
This idea came from our students. They wanted to start an Art Club to further their art skills, bond with other students, and have an alternative activity at lunch that was calm and peaceful. We loved their ideas and passion so PTA bought us an Art Cart filled with art supplies to take out every Monday during lunch recess. Our counseling intern, Esmeralda, has been taking it out, but it would be helpful to have another adult there.
If you are interested in coming on Mondays from 11:45-1:15 to help with this, please click here to let us know your availability.
