NEW INFORMATION
Welcome Anika Jones - Attendance Specialist
Dear Families,
As we conclude the school year, I am excited to introduce myself as the new Attendance Specialist for the North feeder track. My name is Anika Jones, and I am looking forward to working with you and your children to promote regular attendance and ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed.
Over the past three months, I have had the pleasure of working with several families and am proud of the progress we have already made in improving attendance. Your cooperation and commitment have been invaluable, and I am eager to build on this foundation as we move into the next school year.
In my role, I will be monitoring attendance for the nine schools that feed into Shawnee Mission North High School, including eight elementary schools and one middle school. My goal is to collaborate with families and school staff to achieve great attendance for every student throughout the school year.
I understand that life can bring unexpected challenges, and I am here to support you in navigating any attendance-related concerns. If your student has a long-term health-related issue, please be sure to involve your school's nurse and principals. Our nurse will work closely with you to ensure your student receives all the necessary accommodations recommended by their primary physician.
Each school also has a licensed nurse available to assist with health-related matters and provide guidance if your child needs to be absent for an extended period.
I am eager to get to know more families and work together to make the next school year a successful one for all our students.
Thank you for your support, and I wish you a safe and enjoyable summer break!
Best regards,
Anika Jones
Previously released information, but still important to know
MacBook return procedures
Parents, Guardians, and Students,
Please be aware that your student needs to turn in their MacBook AND charger for the summer on the last day of school. The charge for a missing/lost MacBook is $1117.95. The charge for a missing charger is $58.00.
If your student is taking summer school classes or has a special circumstance in which they need to keep their MacBook, they are able to come to the front office to get a special summer school sticker or notify us of the special circumstance.
Lastly, last year we had over 200 missing/lost/stolen chargers not turned back into us. Please remind your student to look now for their charger to avoid a $58 replacement charger fee.
