Thor's Report

The District has begun a three-year transformative journey called the Portrait of a Graduate. This process brings together community leaders, employers, educators, students, and families to define the specific knowledge, skills, and mindsets we believe are essential for our students to thrive as adults. With these insights, we’ll align our educational systems to support this vision.

We invite you to participate in a survey to share what you think our graduates need most to succeed as they move into the future. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey by clicking here. It will be available throughout the weekend and will close on November 11, 2024, at 11:50 p.m. Your input will help us shape the future of education in East County.

The Norsemen defeated Coronado 13-7 on Saturday and are now in the Semi-Finals against Point Loma High School. The match takes place at the Coogan Aquatic Center in La Jolla on Wednesday, November 13th at 5:45pm. Tickets can be purchased on GoFan.co.

Winter Sports start in NOVEMBER - all winter athletes must complete the Clearance Process, even if they participated in a fall sport.

Are you considering taking a winter/spring class at Cuyamaca or Grossmont College? Come to a concurrent enrollment info meeting on Thursday, November 14th at lunch in Room 301. Counselors will cover the application and registration process and answer any questions you have.

IDEA Center High School is hosting a community resource fair on Saturday, November 16th, from 9am-2pm. They will be giving out free lunch to the first 80 attendees and raffling off a free desktop computer. Come learn about some of the great community resources available here in El Cajon.

Throughout the semester, we will have a variety of college representatives visiting Valhalla to meet with our students. Visits are held in the counseling office and students of all grade levels are welcome to attend. Just visit our College and Career Reps Visit page and fill out a quick Google Form to sign up. Sign up forms will close one hour before the event (unless specified). Students will be sent a pass to attend and are responsible for communicating with teachers regarding any missed class time/work.
