Welcome to the St. Nick's Youth Ministry Weekly Update
HAVE A BLESSED HOLY WEEK
The summit of the Liturgical Year is the Easter Triduum—from the evening of Holy Thursday to the evening of Easter Sunday.
Though chronologically three days, they are liturgically one day unfolding for us the unity of Christ's Paschal Mystery.
The single celebration of the Triduum marks the end of the Lenten season, and leads to the Mass of the Resurrection of the Lord at the Easter Vigil.
The liturgical services that take place during the Triduum are:
- Mass of the Lord's Supper
- Good Friday of the Lord's Passion
- Mass of the Resurrection of the Lord

MIDDLE SCHOOL/ EDGE GROUP
RECAP FOR MAR. 24
This past Sunday, it was so good to see the EDGE class back in the Youth Room! We missed them A LOT these past 2 weeks. We had just a few minutes but were happy to hear about their favorite memories from Spring Break.
We then went into the church for Adoration led by Father Dominik. We were very thankful to again have Mr. Nick lead us in singing.
Next, we recapped their last session and were amazed at how much they had remembered!
We then completed our 8th session, The Paschal Mystery. We talked about suffering, that of Jesus on the Cross, and how we can turn to God during our own suffering and for others who are suffering. We took turns reading scripture, and together we prayed the Prayer to Imitate the Suffering of Christ. Please click the links below to view the video and discussion slides.
We ended class with a super selfie and an early Easter treat from Miss Elizabeth & Ms. Beth!
(see photos below)
Special thanks to Mr. Nick for joining us!
HIGH SCHOOL/ YOUTH GROUP
RECAP FOR MAR. 24
Before everyone arrived for HSYG, I was finally able to get even with Braeden! (see video below)
We then visited a bit before going to Adoration with Father Dominik. It was extra special having Ms. Heather join to lead us in singing.
We returned to the Youth Room to complete the 6th and final session of our Lent Study, Walk to Calvary. Because this session would be lengthy while covering the Story of the Passion, there was no actvitiy. (click the link below to view the discussion slides).
We began with an explanation of Lectio Divina since we would use a variation of this format for the session. We went around the room with each Teen taking turns to read one slide. These divided the scripture into portions that were followed by questions. The Teens were able to offer their thoughts and opinions regarding the choices and actions of all involved in the Passion.
It was an emotional session with deep discussions, and again, Father Dominik and I were moved and impressed by the knowledge and dedication these Teens have for our faith and our Savior.
We closed in prayer with a blessing from Father Dominik, squeezed in for a super selfie, and everyone recieved an early Easter treat!
Special thanks to Fr. Dominik and Ms. Heather for joining us!

INFORMATION
YOUTH MINISTRY VOLUNTEERS
Per the Diocese policy for the safety of everyone, a minimum of 2 adults are required to be present for all Youth Ministry activities.
Ideally we would have at least 4-6 volunteers (preferably more), allowing for at least 1 assistant present for the HSYG one Sunday per month. We are also still in need of at least 1 more assistant for the EDGE class.
While the search to locate others who have current certification with the Diocese is ongoing, we have reached a point where we need to request that parents assist on a rotating basis so that we can continue to safely offer HSYG.
Please consider completing your certification, and/ or asking individuals who you think would be a willing volunteer. Or, you can submit suggestions for me to contact.
REQUIRED BY THE DIOCESE
All youth ministry volunteers must have current certification for the course of Serving Vulnerable Populations and a Criminal History Record Check on file with the Diocese. More information can be found by visiting Adult Training on the Diocese of Fairbanks website. Diocese of Fairbanks - Adult Training - Fairbanks, AK
