The mission of Edythe J. Hayes Middle School is to engage all learners in a safe and nurturing environment that fosters academic excellence and develops responsible, respectful leaders and citizens

The student council will sponsor our annual Red Ribbon Week, which is the nation's largest and longest running drug abuse prevention campaign. The theme this year is "Life can be fun if you avoid drugs, alcohol, and vaping."

Each grade level will compete for the best decorated hallway & doors. The winning grade level will be

rewarded with an outdoor free time. The hallways will be judged on Thursday and winners

announced at the end of the week during morning announcements!

All EJH students will take Math MAP on Tuesday, December 3rd from 9-12 and Reading MAP on Thursday, December 5th from 9-12.

Please make sure your student is at school and arrives on time for both days of testing.

Frederick Douglass and Henry Clay High School Counselors will be at Edythe J. Hayes Middle School on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 from 2:00-3:55 PM to meet with EJH 8th graders about High School Scheduling. This meeting is for students only. A parent meeting will be scheduled by the High School to answer any questions you may have. Students must complete the High School Schedule for where their current address shows they are districted to attend. If you need to change your primary address, please do so prior to December 20, 2024. We’ve been thrilled to see an increase in positive behavior among our students. To recognize their efforts, we've distributed over 12,000 eBucks to students this year. These eBucks can be used to purchase rewards at our EJH Panther Store. We have handed out over 700 items from our panther store so far this year.

While we’ve invested significantly in the store, we're seeking donations to further expand our offerings. Congratulations to our outstanding cross country teams! The dedication and hard work of Coach Castillo, Coach Wood, and our talented runners paid off with a fantastic state finish. Our girls placed 3rd, and our boys came in 5th. Way to go, Panthers!

Archery practice this week: 10/28 and 10/30 from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Drama Club members who wish to participate in the field trip need to bring permission slips and ticket fees to Ms. Collins by October 31st.

Southside Technical Center is currently accepting applications for our 8th grade Pre-Engineering program.

Important Details:

• AM Session: Bryan Station, Hayes, and Leestown students (9:15 AM – 11:15 AM)

• Selected EJH students will take a bus from Hayes to the technical school and then return to Hayes for the 2nd half of the day. Please note EJH schedule changes will be made to accommodate the Technical School Schedule.
