Letters to Santa
If you would like your child's letter to Santa printed in the Bowie News, please make sure we have the letter turned in before December 5th. There is a box in the office area for the Santa letters. We will mail them to Santa on the 6th of December to make sure he gets their letters in time for Christmas!
Christmas Program for 1st and 2nd Grade
Our First and Second graders will be performing for the parents and community on December 12th at the High School Gym. We will start with First Grade at 5:30. Please arrive with your first graders around 5:15 so we have time to get everyone on risers and in place before 5:30. Second grade students are encouraged to come early and watch the other students perform. Second Graders need to be in place and ready to sing at 6:00 for their performance.
All students are asked to wear festive Christmas outfits or jeans with red or green shirts. Santa hats or festive headwear are welcomed.
After each performance, the students will be taken in class groups to the gym next to the main gym. One person from their family will be asked to go to the gym and check the child out with the classroom teacher. This will ensure that everyone goes home with the correct adult.
Holiday Shoppe December 12th
At the Christmas Concert, the High School Band will be hosting a gift store in the HIGH SCHOOL cafeteria area for families to shop for small, inexpensive gifts. All grade levels are invited to come and shop for your teachers, families and friends. Please bring cash, check, or credit/debit card for your purchases. The Holiday Shoppe will be open during the concert and until 8:30 pm following the last performance.
Santa is coming to visit!
Santa will be at BES on December 18th. He will be in the Library. We will send the kids through in class groups for pictures and a chance to talk to Santa if they want to. We will take each child's picture, and the teachers can make the pictures available to parents through Class Dojo or Google Classroom. We will be having Polar Express day on the 18th and children are encouraged to wear their PJs for the day.
Early Release on December 19th
Thursday, December 19th, will be an EARLY RELEASE day for BISD. Students will be released at 11:55 at Bowie Elementary. Bus students will be loading around 11:45. If you want to make changes to your child's pick-up plans, please do so before 11:00 am. This will be a very busy and hectic time for the office ladies, so please plan ahead and let us know in plenty of time.
Class Parties on December 19th
If you are planning to attend the class party, please bring your ID and check in at the office. We will hold all visitors in the cafeteria until 9:40. Deliveries can be dropped off at the office starting at 7:30.
The parking lot will be packed. You are welcome to park in the grassy area next to the playground if the parking lot is full. Don't forget to lock your vehicle. If you wish to take your child home after the party is over, you can sign your child out with the classroom teacher. Any student leaving before 9:40 will be counted absent. Party day is always a little busy and chaotic. Please be patient and courteous to everyone.
January is Benchmark testing time
