2020-21 PAEMST DEADLINE APPROACHING
The new cycle for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) has begun for 2020-2021! Do you have an OUTSTANDING Mathematics Teacher at your school? Nominate them for the PAEMST Award. This is the highest teaching award for any Mathematics Teacher in the United States.

PI DAY IS COMING!
Did you know that the record for discovering the most number of digits of pi belongs to Fabrice Ballard? He calculated 2,700,000,000,000 decimal places on just a desktop computer. That’s 2.7 trillion digits!

THE 2021 YEAR GAME FROM NCTM
The rules: use the digits in the year 2021 and the operations +, -, x, ÷, ^ (exponent), √ (square root), and ! (factorial), along with grouping symbols, to write expressions for the counting numbers 1 through 100.
Try to use the digits in order like these:
1 = 2+0–2+1; 9 = 2!+0!+(2+1)!;

2021 State Mathematics Exam – CANCELLED
With much regret, the 2021 ICTM State Math Contest scheduled for April 17, 2021 is cancelled. As the Covid-19 vaccine is more widely administered in the coming months, please look for the contest to run again in April 2022.
