DCSD Apple Awards
Community Donations Last Week
Take a look at all this candy our community donated last Friday for our Treats for Troops! Students brought in 4,327 pieces of candy. This candy was donated to active military members.
Our students brought in over 3,983 items for the kits for kids bags! Our goal was to fill 50 bags, we met that goal, with many supplies leftover that will also be donated. The money that we raised from our Hat day in October was also used to purchase items to help fill these kits.
Turkey Drive
Cimarron’s Turkey Drive is before school on November 19th and 20th. Bring a frozen turkey to school and drop it off at the front entrance. Look for Mr. Zimmerman and Mr. Fitch’s trucks parked at the front of the school. All turkeys will be donated to The Denver Rescue Mission. Don’t forget to label your turkey with your team’s name. Each turkey will add one point toward your team’s spirit stick points.
Routine Vaccination Clinics
DCSD is partnering with Douglas County Health Department to hold two immunization clinics. One in November and one in December. Please see the flier below for details.
Winter Ready
This month, 7th grade students are learning all about emergency preparedness, with a special focus on preparing for weather. We’re discussing the importance of planning ahead, from creating an emergency kit to understanding what to do in various situations. Students will be coming home with a checklist and some tips for preparedness. We encourage you to go over these ideas together, making sure your household is ready for the upcoming winter season. Let’s work together to keep everyone safe and prepared!
Student Pick Up Reminder
Authorizing someone to pick up your student?
Any person picking up a student must be listed either as a household member or as an emergency contact in the student profile. If someone is picking up your student, and they are not listed as an emergency contact, the student will not be released until we have written permission from a parent/ guardian, which will cause a delay in the release time. To avoid these delays, please verify your student’s emergency contact list in Infinite Campus following these steps:
- Click the three horizontal lines in the upper left corner
- Click More at the bottom;
- Click Demographics.
- When you scroll down under each student profile, you will see the people listed as Non-Household Relationships for your student.
If you want to add or remove emergency contacts, please complete this request form. You will receive a confirmation email once a contact has been added or removed.
Please email the Registrar at jlmcrae@dcsdk12.org with same-day requests. Thank you for planning ahead!
Volunteer Opportunity
Annual 8th Grade Career Expo!
The upcoming expo needs your support by volunteering your time on Friday, November 22nd at the DCSD Legacy Campus. This event will expose our students to careers based on the Colorado Career Cluster wheel. It is a great opportunity for them to learn from professionals what it took for them to land their current career. Here is the link to sign up to volunteer.
PLC Work At Cimarron
PLCs foster a culture of continuous improvement within our school. By working in teams, teachers can identify challenges, brainstorm solutions, and implement new strategies. This collaborative approach ensures that we are constantly striving to meet the needs of every student.
Counseling
November is Career Development Month, presenting the perfect opportunity to highlight potential interests and careers for your kids, regardless of their grade. Throughout this month our counseling department is helping students explore future pathways through their grade level Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP) lessons. Students building their ICAP is a multi-year process that intentionally guides them in the exploration of career, academic and postsecondary opportunities beginning in Middle School, and continuing throughout High School.
Cimarron’s 8th graders are also taking a field trip to participate in the district’s 8th Grade Career Expo later this month. This will give them the chance to visit with local employers and explore possible career pathways by asking questions, experiencing hands-on demonstrations and discovering possible career opportunities. * * 8th Grade Parents: Please register your 8th grader by using this link
Help your kids get excited about their futures by talking to them about their ICAP results, taking note of careers they see places, create family vision boards, read career books together, talk to them about your careers, discuss education levels needed for different careers, or come up with your own fun way to bring these conversations into this month’s family activities.

Donations
Donations Needed: Please drop off all donations at the front office. We appreciate you!
We are always looking for gift card donations of $5 gift cards to support our Be RED card Friday Drawings. Students love Fika, McDonalds, Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, Berry Blendz, Swirls, Target, and Five Below gift cards.
In an effort to show our appreciation for our outstanding staff, we are launching an initiative to provide them with tokens of gratitude throughout the year. These tokens, though small, carry a significant impact in letting our staff know that their hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed. To achieve this, we have created an Amazon Wish List filled with a variety of small thank-you gifts that our staff members would greatly appreciate. These gifts will be given out as tokens of appreciation to those who consistently go the extra mile for our students.
We are employing 8th grade students to help run the Be Red store this year. It has been awesome to see their interactions with younger students and their hard work.
We are always looking for continued donations as our inventory gets pretty low; the best sellers are Air Heads, packs of gum, mini Gatorades, and lunch-sized bags of chips/ Pringles/ goldfish/ etc!!
Feel free to search on this Amazon wish list but you can always go off board too! Ask your student for ideas on items they would like to see in the store! Thank you!
