Flex Schedule Begins Wednesday, October 2

Let’s talk about Flex baby! Let’s talk about you and me. Let’s talk about all the good things that we will be able to do in Flex! Let’s talk about Flex this Wednesday! Students, we will operate on the Regular Monday, Tuesday, Thurs, Fri. Schedule on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week. On Wednesday, we will have Flex baby, and follow the Flex schedule with all students remaining in 1st block. Moving forward, each Wednesday students will report to a different block for Flex. The schedule for Flex is as follows:

  • October 2, 2024 - 1st Block
  • October 9, 2025 - 2nd Block
  • October 16, 2024 - 3rd Block
  • October 23, 2024 - 4th Block
Our Flex period is an opportunity for students to get academic support, interventions, and check-ins with teachers. We are looking forward to starting Flex baby!

YMCA Leaders Club

The YMCA is partnering with New Hanover High School by hosting Leaders Club every Thursday after school in room 202 with Ms. Garguilo. Leaders Club is a national YMCA program designed for young adults who want to make an impact in their schools, in their community and within themselves. This nationally recognized program provides a safe space for teens to become confident and competent adults as they receive leadership training that enhances social and emotional growth. Leaders Club requires registration and a one-time $15 membership fee that also includes a full YMCA membership! Check out the link here to learn more and get signed up today. Our first Leaders Club meeting is Thursday, October 3 in room 202 with Ms. Garguilo. Hope to see you there!

Student Support Services Events in October

Students and parents, included are upcoming Student Support Services events in October:

  • Are you interested in hearing more about taking classes at CFCC while still in high school? We will be having a CFCC Dual Enrollment Information Session on October 1 at 5:30 in the NHHS Library, where you can hear all about your dual enrollment options. We hope to see you there!
  • There will be a Post-Secondary - Enrolled, Enlisted, and Employed presentation on 10/8/24 at Minnie Evans (Ashley High School) at 6 PM. For Parents and students needing assistance with what's next!
  • October 9th CFCC roadshow in Brogden for students to see opportunities at CFCC.
  • 10/16 @ 5pm FAFSA night for Seniors and their parents. Come get your questions answered from the knowledgeable Brittany Privott. FAFSA opens December 1st.
  • Do you want to get involved in mental health awareness at NHHS? We would love to have anyone interested in learning more about SAVE Promise Club to attend our first meeting Friday, October 18th after school in the media center. Please see Ms. Creech in the counseling offices for more information.
  • October 21-25th Free College Application week 2nd block all week in the Library, Seniors please attend to receive support filling out your College Applications!
