PBMS Vision
PBMS strives to be a place where students want to come to school, parents want to send their children and staff want to come to work.
Message from the Principal
It's hard to believe we are already in the 4th week of school. The end of the grading period is Friday, September 20. Be sure to check PowerSchool Parent Portal. Mr. Bailey is in the process of sending individual emails to families who have not signed up yet (118 families). Please reach out to him at sbailey@sandi.net for assistance. In the meantime, your child can show you their progress using the student portal.
Safety: At PBMS we want every child to feel safe. This includes going to and from school, in the classrooms, during passing period, in the locker room, during breaks and even on social media. Please discuss the following concerns with your child:
- Using Appropriate Language - No Profanity, No Slurs: This is a PBMS non-negotiable. The counselors, administration and the IB coordinator are visiting every classroom by grade level to make clear that it is NEVER ok to use language that can cause harm, even when a student is "just joking".
- Stranger Danger: Don't speak to strangers; don't take anything from strangers; donβt go anywhere with someone you donβt know; trust your instincts, if you feel you are being followed or something is not right, seek help immediately; use the buddy system, avoid walking anywhere alone; if a stranger approaches or you see something unsafe, tell a trusted adult such as a parent or teacher.
Back to School Night (BTSN): We hope to see you tomorrow, Thursday, September 5 from 5:00-7:00pm. There are some special meetings at 4:30 and 7:00. Check out this flyer for details: BTSN. Classroom visits run from 5:00pm - 7:00pm. You will follow your child's schedule for 10 minute presentations in each class with a 5 minute passing period. Students brought home their schedule yesterday. You can also access it through the PowerSchool Parent Portal App. If you cannot make it, we will share all of the presentations in the Family Bulletin next week. The presentations include an introduction, the course syllabus, contact information and how to get help. Be sure to check out the book fair in the media center. The book fair is open at lunch time for students and during BTSN.
LCFF Forms: The federal and state governments provide extra funding for students who may have additional needs. The allocation is determined by data collected in the LCFF form. We need 100% completion rate and right now, only 70% of families have completed the form. You can find access to the form in PowerSchool Parent Portal - but NOT using the APP (Sorry). Here is a link for more information LCFF FORM You can also reach out to Ms. Agejas at magejaschicharro@sandi.net for help. PBMS currently pays for an additional counselor with the funding. We really need the support.
