Principal Message
Good morning,
As a reminder, schools are closed on Monday for students. This is the day the county has designated for parent-teacher conferences. We look forward to seeing families on Monday if they have set up a conference with their child's teachers. If you were unable to sign up and are in need of a conference with a teacher, please reach out to that specific teacher.
Have a great weekend!
Mrs. Christina Caballero
Principal
We are unable to accommodate walk in appointments with administration and the counseling team. Should you need to speak with someone, please schedule an appointment with the appropriate individual. We are typically in the classrooms with students and participating in various activities with students and teachers.

Each week, students will be exposed to a Word of the Week. We will also demonstrate how the word can be used in each of the teacher's classrooms. The word will also be displayed in each classroom on the board or wall with a definition.
Word of the Week for October 14th - Critique/Criticize (To analyze or evaluate something in a detailed way. To discuss the good and bad elements in a text, film, or something else and give evidence to justify your claims).
Laptop Chargers
Some of the students are indicating they have lost their laptop chargers. Below is a link to a comparable charger that works with both Acer and HP devices.

Resources
I collaborate with school staff and community agencies to help families connect to available resources. You may contact me to discuss resources your child or family may need such as backpack with school supplies, food basket donations and mental health resources.
Residency
We realize that some families move during the school year. You must notify the school when you move, even if it is still in zone. Parents will have to supply two new proofs of domicile for their new residence. Please click on the link to view the list of acceptable proofs for Charles County Public Schools. Proof of Domicile / Residency (ccboe.com) If you have no proofs or just one proof in your name at the new residence, please contact me for assistance.
Families who move out of zone may request to complete a School Change Request form. The decision on a school change request is made by the Department of Student Services and not by the school principal or PPW. You may contact me to learn more about this process or click on the website link CCPS School Change Requests/CCPS Transfer Rules - Charles County Public Schools (ccboe.com)

Communicate with Your Child's School
Report future absences. If parents know that their child will be out of school in the future due to a community engagement activity (middle and high school) or cultural observance, they can contact the school to report the absence and date.
For extended absences due to an educational trip or unique life experience, parents can submit a Parent Request Excused Absence (Code 13*) application to the school’s attendance secretary, no later than two (2) weeks prior to the student’s first date of absence
Cell Phone Policy
Students may bring their phone or device to school, but once school begins the device must be powered completely off (not on vibrate or silent mode) and must remain in a non-visible, secure location.
Dress Code
Students are reminded and expected to follow CCPS dress code. Student attire should not be disruptive or distractive to the learning environment. The CCPS Code of Student Conduct committee updated the student dress code for the 24-25 school year. Students will no longer be permitted to wear any top or shirt that does not fully cover their midriff area. So in student terms of understanding - no crop tops. The dress code emphasizes the role of parents and their responsibility to ensure their child is coming to school each day dressed appropriately.
