School is in full gear, and we lots of information to share with you as well as many upcoming events.
Currently, we are having a fundraiser with the goal of updating our classrooms. Smith Elementary turns 25 years old this year, and we want to make sure our classrooms are keeping up with the changing times. Last year, we were finally able to get new desks and chairs in every classroom, and now we are trying to update every room with a Newline board, replenish Chrome books, update the sound system in the cafeteria, and more. Please share this link with family and friends to help support our school!
Finally, we promote events at our school through our website, newsletters, and our Facebook page. Please email me if you do not want your child's photo used.

Academic Parent Teacher Teams
At Smith Elementary, we partner with parents to boost the academic growth of our kids through Academic Parent Teacher Teams (APTT). You will get the opportunity to sit in your child's classroom and learn directly from the teacher about your child's educational journey this year. You will learn about the essential learning standards for that grade, learn strategies to support learning at home, set goals for your child, and network with other parents. Each meeting is from 5:30 to 6:30, and childcare and a snack is provided. The meetings dates are as follows:
September 17 - Fourth Grade
September 24 - Second Grade
September 25 - Kindergarten
September 26 - First Grade
October 1st - Third Grade
October 3rd - Pre--K

- Paraprofessional (Fluent in English and Spanish preferred) - full-time hours 7:45-4:15
- Cafeteria Monitor - part-time hours 10:00-2:00

The window for GT referrals is now open for 1st-4th graders until September 13th. You can use this link to refer your child. We also screen all second grade students. Students may be referred once per year.
