Hello Bearkat Families!
There is still time to complete our Parent Survey. Your input will help us improve and create a better learning environment for all students. I truly value your thoughts and insights as we partner together!
You can fill the survey out here.
Next, our campus has a few fun events coming up that I want to bring to your attention.
- On March 7th, we are taking over the Cedar Park Center and having Danielson Middle School Night at the Austin Spurs Game! You'll get to see student performances and our Bearkats will have an opportunity to get onto the court after the game.
- From March 3rd to March 13th, NJHS is sponsoring a canned food drive! The grade level that collects the most cans will get to pie teachers! If our campus collects 500 cans, Dr. Cruz and the Grade Level AP will be pied!
- Please save the date for our very first Danielson Academic Night on March 11! The flyer is below with an RSVP form. We can't wait to showcase the incredible academic programs we offer at DMS. We hope you will come out and see what your Bearkats get to experience each day.
Finally, please see the section below about Gradeway, an app that makes checking your child's grades easy and efficient! As the mom of a 7th Grade Bearkat, I know how difficult it is to stay on top of grades in HAC. The Gradeway App simplifies this process!
Have a beautiful weekend,
🧡💙Dr. Cruz
Quick, easy way to check your child's grades!
Have you downloaded the Gradeway For HAC App yet? It's free and makes checking your student's current grades a breeze! You can download on your Apple or Android Device: https://gradeway.github.io/
I highly encourage that you also have your student put it on their cell phone as well so that we can empower them to track their own learning progress and advocate for themselves to re-do or makeup assignments!
While we try our best to notify parents of low grades or failing grades, it's not always possible for our 1200 Bearkats. Please try to check your student's grades at least once a week! They have 5 days to re-do any assignment that they scored below an 80 on and they have 5 days to make up any missing assignments.
RSVP for our inaugural Academic Night!
While it's not required, the RSVP will help us have a headcount of how many Bearkats to plan for. We can't wait to explore alongside you as we showcase the top notch academic programs offered at DMS!
RSVP here!
Join us for Danielson MS Night at the Austin Spurs Game!!

Requests from the Front Office
Food and Item Drop Off
We have had an increase in the number of meals and Starbucks drinks being dropped off for students at times that are not their lunch times. We are not able to track down students to deliver these items to them outside of their lunch time. With around 1200 students, we just can't guarantee that the food and drinks parents drop off early in the morning or late in the afternoon will make it to your Bearkat. Please save these extra treats for home and only drop off what is essential for their lunch during their lunch period.
6th Grade Lunch: 11:19-11:49
7th Grade Lunch: 12:13-12:43
8th Grade Lunch: 1:07-1:37
Early Checkouts and Transportation Changes Must be Submitted by 3:45 PM!
If you need to check your student out before the end of the day, the request must be made by 3:45 PM. We will not be able to check out any students from 3:45-4:20 PM as we have already started our dismissal procedures.
Additionally, all transportation changes must be made by 3:45 PM.

Important 8th Grade Information: Credit Recovery Hours Owed
For students enrolled in high school courses, attendance requirements are especially critical as they directly impact course credit. It is essential that these hours are made up promptly to ensure students remain on track for earning credit.
Any hours beyond 18—whether excused or unexcused—will count as hours owed. Rebecca Harrison, our attendance clerk, can verify your student’s attendance records.
All hours owed for the fall semester must be completed by April 4th in order for students to receive credit for the fall term. Please pick up a copy of the credit recovery tracking sheet in the front office.
Students can make up attendance hours through the following options:
- Completing community service, either on or off campus
- Attending morning, after-school, or lunch tutorials
- Participating in Saturday school
We appreciate your support in ensuring your student meets the attendance requirements. If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact Ms. Moore, 8th grade assistant principal or Rebecca Harrison, attendance clerk.
Thank you for your cooperation!

8th Grade Transition Information for High School
Greetings 8th grade parents!
Your 8th grader took part in the initial phase of planning for their high school courses before the break. Each class got to build a four year plan of courses based on their interests through the program Naviance. We want to provide you with a timeline of events that will be taking place including the final course selection dates for your future high schooler. These are student events only. Any parent events for high school students will be communicated by their zoned school. All courses will be registered for through Naviance, so you can ask your student to show you what they have planned already!
We look forward to helping your student through this process.
