Dear IRS Families,
Welcome to our Final Smores Newsletter for the 2024 - 2025 school year. I want to take a moment and thank each and every parent, student and staff member for the past 15 years. I came here following a rich career in Maine to work in a larger school with so many resources for students. I leave with many fond memories and accomplishments. I wish you all the best going forward and may God bless each and everyone of you.
Events coming our way in the month of June:
IRS Music concerts
Grade 5 & 6 - June 2 at 7pm
Grade 7 & 8, Select Chorus, & Jazz Band - June 3 at 7pm
Grade 4 Step Up Information
We will welcoming incoming 5th graders on June 3
Parents can come to the IRS Library on June 4 at 6pm
Field Trips
June 13 - 7th Grade will visit the Flume Gorge and Cannon Tramway
June 17 - 8th Grade will visit the Freedom Trail in Boston
5th Grade visited Fort No. 4 in Charlestown on May 23, you can see pictures from this trip further down in the newsletter.
6th Grade had the Roots Program in the fall, and attended Beauty & the Beast at Northern Stage in December, you can see pictures from these events further down in the newsletter.

Retirement Announcements!
Mr. Towle - Principal
Kevin began his teaching career in Maine, where he dedicated over 30 years to education as both a teacher and administrator. In 2011, he joined the Mascoma Valley Regional School District, where he has since served as principal of Indian River School and briefly stepped in as interim principal at MVRHS. For the past 14 years, Kevin has continued to mentor students that has come through IRS with the same passion and commitment that marked the start of his career.
We hope you enjoy your retirement with your boys, Coop and Goose, while baking all the delicious treat you can think of!
Ms. Fryer - Reading Specialist
Karen has been teaching in New Hampshire for 45 years. Her first job was in Lisbon where she third grade. She has taught in Orford, Wentworth and is now completing her 18th year in the Mascoma Valley Regional School District. She started in third grade at Canaan Elementary School, and moved to the Reading Specialist position here at Indian River School in 2013. "I've wanted to be a teacher since I was in third grade and I never changed my mind! It has been a fulfilling career and I have many fond memories of all my students."
We hope you enjoy your retirement with gardening and shredding the slopes!

Spring Musical
The Little Mermaid
Dr. Lorenz and the Drama Club put on a fantastic production of The Little Mermaid. The hard work and dedication shone through the entire production. Congratulations to the cast and crew!
Lunch Balances
Indian River School has a negative lunch balance of over $2,300.
If your student has a balance you will receive an email and mailed letter with the amount due, and the lunch number to help set up an account on MyMealtime. If you prefer not to use the website checks and cash can be given directly to the cafeteria employee to put towards the account, or feel free to drop it off at the office and we will get it to them.
Year Recap
From sports and band concerts to drama productions and so much more, our students have created countless memories together. As we wrap up the school year and take a moment to reflect, we want to thank you for being a part of this incredible journey.
With just 13 school days left, we wish you a happy, healthy, and relaxing summer break ahead!
