AI Guidance from Technology
The Fayette County Board of Education heard an overview of our district's new Guidance for Artificial Intelligence (AI). Director of Technology Amy Johns (pictured) and Associate Director of Instructional Technology Rachel Barcus shared highlights of the six-page foundational document, which was developed over the past six months with feedback from students, teachers, and school and district leaders. "AI is just the next emerging technology," Johns said, noting FCPS will continue to provide related support at the school level. For instance, AI will be incorporated in the digital citizenship curriculum. “I think the approach to AI in the classroom will be similar to how we approach the internet. It can become another tool," said Board Chair Tyler Murphy, a high school teacher in Boyle County.
