A Message from the Superintendent
June 2023
Dear Parents, Staff, and Community Members,
As we conclude our 2022/23 School Year, please take a moment to view this short video. As expressed in my message to you, I wish you an incredible summer and time to rest with your loved one. I would like to offer my heartfelt congratulations to our Class of 2023 eighth grade graduates. As educators, we are beaming with pride and here to cheer you on as you take your next step to high school.
Thank you to the parents who poured their time and energy into making graduation, the post-graduation party, Skokie 6th grade send-off, 4th grade parties, Field Days, and many other celebratory events so special.
I would also like to recognize our incredible teachers. This week, students said it best:
“They value all of our traits…and make you feel special even if you’re not feeling it yourself.” -5th grader
“I like the vibe here.” -7th grader
“Kindergarten was so awesome…I’m going to miss it every day.” -Kindergartener
“Our teacher is amazing. I have the best teacher in the school!” -5th grader
“I’ll miss my teacher so much.” -Kindergartener
“They never give up on you.” -5th grader
“The teachers appreciate you and support who you are.” -7th grader
(School is) “Crazy cool.” -Kindergartener
“My teachers helped me SO much.” -5th grader
Finally, to our students, you are the “WHY” behind why we come to work each day. We are so very honored to have you at the center of all we do here in The Winnetka Public Schools. We look forward to seeing some of you at Adventures in Learning this summer, and welcoming current and new students back to campus in August. As we say on social media, #youbelonghere! Happy Summer!
Most Sincerely,
Dr. Kelly Tess, Superintendent of Schools
