Cold Weather Attendance Reminder Letter
Dear HPS Parents and Guardians,
This letter is to remind you of our current procedures regarding absences due to medical reasons.
If your student is feeling sick while at school, it is mandatory for them to visit the Health Aide before they can be sent home to ensure that any necessary care is provided promptly. If it is necessary to send the student home due to illness, the health aide will notify the parent/guardian. Any attempts to sign-out due to illness without the attention of the health aide will result in an unexcused absence.
Absences exceeding three or more days due to illness, require a note from a healthcare provider in order for the absences to be excused.
As a reminder, students are expected to be present for a minimum of 90% of each class to receive credit and actively participate in their education.
Your cooperation and understanding in this matter are highly appreciated. These measures will contribute to a healthier and more productive learning environment for our students.
Sincerely,
Sabri Unal
Campus Principal

ACANTHOSIS NIGIRICANS
Acanthosis Nigricans is a visual inspection for a skin condition that signals high blood sugar levels in the body. The purpose of screening for Acanthosis Nigricans is to help identify students who run the risk of developing diabetes in the future. This screening is done in the following grades:
1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th graders.
SCREENING APPOINTMENT SCHEDULE
Your child’s appointment has been scheduled for: 11/11/2024 starting and 12/20/2024 ending.

Their screenings will include: HEARING/VISION/ACANTHOSIS/SPINAL
Please ensure your child wears any glasses or contact lenses and lightweight t-shirt if doing a spinal screening.
Please arrive 5 minutes early to sign in, check temperatures, and sanitize your hands.
Please be prepared to pick your child up immediately after their scheduled appointment end time.
If your child is scheduled for on campus classes, they will be pulled from their class for their scheduled screening and returned to class promptly afterwards.

Attendance Matters
Please remember that if your child is unable to attend school due to illness or other unavoidable
circumstances, it is required that you communicate with our school office by creating an absence request in Skyward or emailing Pmarez@harmonytx.org. For an absence to be considered excused, it must align with the criteria outlined in the HPS handbook regarding excusable reasons for absence. Your timely communication allows us to maintain accurate attendance records and ensure that your child receives any necessary support or accommodations.
Every day counts, and your support reinforcing this message is greatly appreciated. Thank you
for your continued partnership in your child’s education. Together, we can help ensure that your
a child reaches their full potential.
Safety Corner
To ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff, we kindly ask that you avoid sending aerosol sprays—such as body sprays, perfumes, and similar products—to school. These sprays can trigger allergic reactions and asthma attacks, putting some of our school community members at risk.
Let’s work together to create a safe and comfortable environment for everyone. Thank you for your understanding and support!
No Place for Hate Campaign✌️
🎉 We’re excited to launch our No Place for Hate campaign! 🎉
We are excited to announce that our school is officially launching the No Place for Hate campaign! This is a powerful initiative designed to promote kindness, inclusivity, and respect for everyone on campus. It’s a chance for all students, grades 6 through 12, to stand together and help create a school environment where everyone feels safe, valued, and supported.
We need your voices and your actions to make a difference. You can get involved by joining our No Place for Hate team, participating in activities, and pledging to stand against bullying, hate, and discrimination.
Let's show that our school is truly a place of respect and unity for all. For further details, please see Ms. Rogers in Room 161. Stay tuned for more information on how you can participate, and let’s work together to make our campus No Place for Hate!
Safety Drill Reminders
Dear Parents,
At Harmony Science Academy Pflugerville, the safety and well-being of our students is always our top priority. As part of our commitment to ensuring a safe learning environment, we will be conducting safety drills each month. These drills include fire, lockdown, and evacuation procedures, all designed to help our students and staff be prepared for a variety of emergency situations.
We encourage you to talk to your children about the importance of these drills. By having open discussions at home, you can reinforce the message that these drills are a crucial part of staying safe, and help them feel more comfortable and confident during the exercises.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us keep our school community safe!
