Maverick Monthly: January 2025

Welcome from Superintendent Jeremy Williams
EISD has had an amazing start to 2025! As we reflect on the first month of the year, I couldn’t be more proud of what our students and staff have accomplished together. January was filled with excitement, growth, and plenty of moments to celebrate.
Our students have jumped into the year with energy and enthusiasm for learning, our teachers are bringing their best every day, and our community continues to support one another in meaningful ways. I am grateful for the hard work and dedication of everyone who makes our district a place to learn and grow.
As we look ahead to the remainder of the semester, I am filled with optimism. We will maintain the momentum and ensure this semester is outstanding for all of EISD!

January School Board Meeting Recap
The EISD School Board met on January 13th for its regular monthly meeting. Students, teachers and staff were recognized for exceptional performance. Updates were given on current district projects and possible future projects were discussed.
January was School Board Appreciation Month. EISD's amazing Board was celebrated with a delicious meal from Mae's. We appreciate each of our Board members and the sacrifices they make to serve the students and staff of EISD.
Alondra, Emma, Kole, Landyn, and Joslyn Lead Pledge at School Board Meeting!
At the January School Board Meeting, 1st Grade teachers selected Alondra, Emma, Kole, Landyn, and Joslyn to represent Siebert Elementary and lead the pledge!
Kenzie Mclean and Royce Ojeda: EMS December Students of the Month!
Kenzie Mclean and Royce Ojeda were chosen as Eastland Middle School's December Students of the Month!
Kenzie plays for the Middle School Lady Mavs Volleyball and Basketball teams. She also enjoys playing Softball. She says that Mrs. Burris is her favorite teacher because she is understanding and very nice. After graduating high school, Kenzie is considering either attending the University of Oklahoma or going to cosmetology school to become a hair stylist.
Royce plays Football and Basketball for the Middle School Mavericks. He also enjoys playing Soccer. His favorite class is Mr. Perry's History class, as Mr. Perry makes the learning environment fun. He is still considering his options when it comes to higher education, but he would like to become a barber when he gets older.
Congratulations to both of these outstanding students!
Ana Cunningham and Brayden Foust: EHS December Students of the Month
Ana Cunningham and Brayden Foust were named as the December Students of the Month for Eastland High School at the January School Board Meeting!
Ana competes for the Lady Mavs in Volleyball, Basketball, Softball, and Track, and has been a core member of the teams throughout her high school career. She is a member of the Beta club and FCA. Ana plans to attend Texas A&M in pursuit of a Nursing degree.
Brayden competes for the Mavericks in Football and Track. He is a member of the Beta Club, and has developed welding skills through Ag, earning 2nd place at the Eastland County Stock Show for the trailer he built. After graduating, he plans to pursue a career in the oil industry as an Oilfield Pipeline Inspector.
Congratulations to these two amazing students!
Courtney Bridges, January Teacher of the Month!
At the January School Board Meeting, Courtney Bridges was recognized as Teacher of the Month!
Courtney Bridges has been a critical part of EHS, working in the office managing PEIMS. Starting last semester, she became a teacher for EHS, teaching History. She was noted as being a great help to both students and staff throughout her entire career thus far, and she has made great strides in ensuring students are as engaged in their classwork as possible.
Congratulations on your well-deserved award!
