WMS updates and reminders

See information below connected to the PACE sponsored chess tournament for interested students.
The end of the first quarter will be Thursday October 17th. There is no school Friday the 18th as that is a staff development day. Grades will not be available until the following week on progress book.
The Fall sports awards night will be Monday October 21st at 6:00pm. Sports teams start off together in the cafeteria for some quick announcements and snacks, prior to breaking up into individual recognition ceremonies. Cross Country families will be doing an alternative.
WMS is excited to once again announce that in partnership with OSU Newark and Central Ohio Technical College, we will once again be taking all of our seventh graders on a college visit to OSU Newark. Students will attend on one of four dates: October 22nd/23rd or November 12th/13th. Specific group assignments to come.
The sixth grade dance will take place Thursday October 24th from 6-8pm. There is no school for students on that Friday the 25th. Entry is $5, and students can bring extra cash for pizza, candy, and drinks. This is a behavior incentive, student behaviors resulting in OSS, ISS, or two hour detentions starting October 1st thru the dance date will result in non attendance to the dance.
On October 29th & 31st Porters coffee truck will be on campus as a part of a second quarter PBIS incentive for students. Students will be able to utilize their Warrior cards to gain access to the truck on select days, but will need to bring cash, card, or apple pay to purchase their drinks.
With the end of the quarter coming many students will begin taking common quarterly assessments, commonly referred to as CQA's. Please be advised of SWL secure testing policies for when the occasion occurs.

Stupendous student support team

Our team of counselors: Ms. Huggins, Mrs. Parker, and Mrs. Hahn work along side school psychologist Mrs. Thompson and SWL social worker Patty Werner to meet the social emotional and learning needs of over 1100 students at WMS. Shout out to this excellent group of professionals!

End of the fall sports season

This past week most of our fall sports teams wrapped up their seasons. The awards banquet night will be Monday the 21st. Winter sports season is right around the corner, so be on the look out for more info. Boys basketball open gyms are on Tuesdays & Thursdays, with 7th grade occurring in the WMS gym and the 8th grade at the high school in the auxiliary gym. Wrestling coaches will be in the building October 17th for sign ups. More info to come.

Congrats to Mr. Phillips

Mr. Phillips has been nominated as the certified staff member of the month for the first quarter. Congrats to Mr. Phillips and all the students who will be recognized in an upcoming recognition ceremony.

Athletics

Hometown Ticketing

Varsity Ticket events are $7 up to 1 hour before the event. At the gate tickets are $8 (use of a card includes a fee at the gate). Middle School tickets are $5.

All athletes should enter and exit the building through the 600 hall (Door 7) entrance before and after practice each day.
