Principal's Update
Talking is the foundation of reading. Reading is speech put to print, so to understand print, people need to understand how spoken language works.
There are two things you can do to increase your child's oral language, which helps them to be stronger readers:
1) Read Aloud to them. (PLEASE participate in One Book, One School starting on Monday by reading Frindle with your child/children. It will be fun!!)
2) Talk with them. Ask them about the "rose and thorn" of their day. Tell them about your day at work. Ask them for their advice on a problem. Listen to the funny stories they tell. Want some fun conversation topics? Check THESE out!

EHSA Update
Between the Fun Run and the Book Fair, we've raised $20,000! We're excited to put these funds towards field trips teachers are planning. Thank you for your support!
We're also excited to host the dance tonight--we hope many of you are there, and thank you to our volunteers!
We hope you'll join us at our next meeting, November 14th, at 6:30pm in the Edgewood Library. We'll hear more about character education (integrity and honesty), and how we can support at home, learn about recent field trips, and get the low-down on upcoming events. Hope to see you there!
