Important Notice: Vaping Prevention and Awareness
Vaping Awareness & Prevention Reminder
We want to bring to your attention a recent increase in vaping incidents on our campus. This is a serious concern that not only affects student health but also creates significant disciplinary consequences. We strongly encourage you to speak with your child about the harmful effects of vaping and reinforce the importance of making safe, healthy choices.
Additionally, we have learned that some students are bringing vapes from home. If you or other adults in your household vape, please take steps to ensure all vaping devices are stored securely and out of reach of children.
Please remember: vaping, being in possession of a vape, or selling vapes at school may lead to a disciplinary hearing with our Director of Student Support Services. Consequences may include placement in an alternative education program—or, in severe cases, expulsion.
We appreciate your partnership in keeping our school community safe and healthy for all students.
Important Notice: Attendance Matters
Attendance Matters—Even After STAAR!
STAAR testing may be finished, but learning is far from over! We are still actively teaching, reviewing, and preparing students for success through the end of the year.
📌 Please refrain from picking up students before 10:30 AM unless it’s an emergency.
📌 Schedule all appointments for late in the day to avoid missing important instructional time.
📌 We expect our Eagles to be at school every day unless they are too ill to attend.
If your child must be absent, we truly appreciate receiving a doctor’s note to support the absence. While handwritten notes are helpful, only three handwritten notes are accepted per school year. Any additional absences without official documentation may be marked as unexcused.
⏰ Attendance continues to count—and will be reviewed by the Grade Placement Committee to help determine whether your child is promoted to the next grade level.
Thank you for your continued partnership and commitment to your child’s success!

📅 Attendance Matters – Here's What You Need to Know
Consistent attendance is essential for your child’s success! Here are a few important reminders:
-
📚 State law requires students to attend at least 90% of the school year to receive credit and be considered for promotion to the next grade.
-
📉 Excessive absences can impact both academic progress and school funding—which affects resources for all students.
-
😷 If your child is truly sick, please keep them home and focus on recovery. Health always comes first!
Let’s finish strong—the last day of school is Thursday, May 29, 2025!
🤗 A Friendly Reminder: Previously Shared—but Still Important—Information 🤗
While this may have been shared earlier in the year, it's still relevant and helpful. Please take a moment to review these key details to stay up-to-date and informed.
We Need Your Feedback!
Parents, please take a moment to complete our End-of-Year (EOY) Survey! Your voice is important and helps us improve for next school year. The survey is due by May 9, 2025.
We truly value your input—look for the survey link attached and let your voice be heard!
Happy Tuesday, Varnett Families,
Important Notice: Report cards go home on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, so please be on the lookout.
1. Clear and Mesh Backpacks Required
Please remember that all students must use clear or mesh backpacks at all times. This is a campus-wide safety measure and must be followed daily.
2. Varnett-Approved Outerwear Only
We understand that it may be challenging at times, but students are only permitted to wear approved Varnett outerwear. This policy is in place to ensure safety and consistency for all students.
3. Vaping Awareness & Consequences
Unfortunately, we’ve seen an increase in vaping incidents on campus. I encourage you to have a conversation with your child about the serious health risks associated with vaping. At Varnett Public Schools, vaping will result in placement at an alternative school and, at worst, expulsion from our campus. This is not taken lightly.
4. Attendance & Grade Placement
Attendance matters. Teachers will begin reaching out to families regarding grade placement concerns due to failing grades and excessive absences. Please make sure your child is present and engaged every day.
As always, if you need anything or have questions, feel free to reach us directly!
Friendly Reminder: Campus Food Policy
We’d like to remind you of our campus food policy to ensure a safe and smooth experience for all:
- Fast Food Deliveries: We do not accept fast food deliveries from parents or food carriers. If food is dropped off, it will not be delivered to students.
- Birthday Celebrations: To celebrate birthdays, only store-bought cupcakes and juice are allowed. Homemade treats or other items cannot be distributed.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in helping us maintain a safe and positive environment for all our students!
