Park Avenue Book Fair is Coming!!! September 25-27
Get ready—the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! This is a great opportunity to connect with your child over the thrill of bringing home new books to dive into again and again. Studies show that kids read more when they choose books for themselves. And fostering a love of independent reading leads to a wide variety of benefits—including academic success and improved mental health.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Book Fair:
Dates: September 25-27 during the school day (students only)
Family Event: Thursday, September 26 from 5-7pm (PARENTS WELCOME)
Location: Park Avenue Gymnasium
There’s even more info on our school’s Book Fair homepage:
https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/parkaveportchester
While you’re there, set up a Book Fair eWallet, the digital payment account that allows your child to shop for books at the Fair without cash. Then share your eWallet link so friends and extended family can add funds. - CLICK HERE
When you fund an eWallet, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to a giving initiative called
Share the Fair™. Your contributions directly support our students who need help buying books
from the Fair.
Many of us still remember the rush of finding the perfect book at a Book Fair. We hope you’ll support our school’s Fair and share a reading experience that your children remember forever.
Happy reading!

5th Grade Peer Leaders
Park Avenue is launching its 5th Grade Peer Leader program next week. Students in 5th grade will be given paper copies of an application to become leaders in our school.
Fifth grade Peer Leaders are role models and helpers that will serve the Park Avenue School Community as volunteer leaders this year. As a PEER LEADER they will need to:
Be a positive role model for peers.
Be kind and respectful to students and staff
Attend school regularly and work hard academically.
Attend meetings, or help out, sometimes during lunch or before school.
The 5th Grade Peer Leadership program requires a full year commitment.
As a fifth grade Peer Leader, students may be asked to participate in some of the following activities:
Greet students with high fives and music in the morning from 8-8:30am (if they can make it)
Read the morning announcements over the PA system.
Read to, or assist, kindergarten students
Help other classes, or teachers, with special projects
Gather classmates’ voice and opinions
Advise the principal and assistant principal on various issues
OPEN DOOR
Open Door provides excellent, accessible, and personalized healthcare regardless of the ability to pay to build healthier families and communities. Inside Park Elementary is Open Door’s School-Based Health Center. It is a doctor’s office located on school property that provides a full range of accessible and friendly primary health care services to students. Any child attending a district is able to visit any SBHC location within that district. One-time Parental consent is required. The SBHC can be your child’s primary care provider (PCP), however student’s that already have one can still use the SBHC services for sick and intermittent care. Each year the student will have an annual health check to keep care up to date.
For an appointment call: 914-934-2183. To enroll in the SBHC, click: https://opendoormedical.medforward.com/FillOutForm.aspx?formname=sbhc_consent_form_port_chester
