October 7, 2024
Dear Huskie Community,
It is hard to believe we have Parent/Teacher Conferences this week, several fall sports are nearing season's end, and the leaves are beginning to turn. Time does fly when you are having fun!
There is no school on Thursday or Friday due to Parent/Teacher Conferences and staff professional learning. On Thursday, teachers will have the opportunity to collaborate and plan with their crosstown counterparts from Naperville Central. We will also have a variety of learning sessions including an EdCamp at NNHS where our knowledgeable and talented teachers have the opportunity to share and learn from one another. Thanks to Home and School for providing a delicious breakfast to fuel this important work.
Speaking of Home and School, I'd like to thank them and the Boosters for all the wonderful support they provide our staff and students. These hard working parents really do provide an unbelievable amount of support for NNHS. We couldn't do what we do without them. Please check out some of their upcoming opportunities below.
Finally, please see information below regarding the last chance for underclassmen to get their yearbook photo taken on October 22.
Make it a great week and Go Huskies!
Sincerely,
Jay Wachtel
Advanced Placement Honor Roll
Silver Distinction: We are pleased to announce that North has been named to the Advanced Placement (AP) Honor Roll, earning Silver distinction. This honor indicates that North is among the top 9% of schools in the US & Canada whose AP programs are delivering results for students while broadening access.
This award is based on each school’s ability to increase their school’s college-going culture, to provide opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness. The AP Honor Roll offers multiple levels of distinction in these areas. The North Class of 2024 demonstrated the following:
- College Culture (Silver Status): 52% of students experienced at least one AP course during their high school career
- College Credit (Gold Status): 44% of students earned college credit by achieving an AP exam score of 3 or higher
- College Optimization (Platinum Status): 16% of students took at least five AP exams in their high school career including one in 9th or 10th grade
“AP represents an opportunity for students to stand out to colleges as well as earn college credit,” said Trevor Packer, head of the AP program. “The schools recognized on the Honor Roll have shown that they can expand access to these college-level courses and still drive high performance – they represent the best of our AP program.
