Travel Plans
Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.
Mark 2:17
There are reasons why you hear so much about your “mission in life” at church. You have gifts that have been given to you by God. Obviously, God had a reason for giving you these gifts, and it wasn’t just to take care of yourself.
Your mission in life always involves the compassionate giving of your gifts to others. There are additional reasons to consider your mission.
All around you people are suffering under great burdens. Sometimes, you allow this suffering to stumble close enough to you that it breaks your heart wide open. You witness despair; you see woundedness. When you take long enough to understand their plight, your heart breaks for them.
Then the Holy Spirit enters that open place and calls you to make a response.
Another reason Christians are propelled into mission is that they are so thankful for what God has done in their lives, so amazed at the grace they received from Jesus Christ, that they have to use some part of their lives to communicate this grace to others.
As we look in the New Testament, it appears that the primary reason Christians have a mission to their lives is that they are simply committed to following Jesus – wherever he leads them. For too long they wandered through life on their own, trying one crusade after another, becoming more and more lost and frustrated.
When Jesus found them, he promised to bring them back home to the Father. As they followed our Savior, they found that the journey back to God happened to travel through the places where others also need the Savior. All the places you will go will necessarily be places where the Savior is needed.
Join us for worship this Sunday at 10:30 am. Pastor Rich will bring us the message, All the Places You Will Go.
