Parents, the annual window for Gifted and Talented (GT) referrals will open from December 1 - January 17 for students currently in Kindergarten and December 1 - January 31 for students currently in grades 1-12.

GT services are provided for identified students in grades K-12.

• Students currently in kindergarten who are identified for GT services will begin services in February 2025.

• Students currently in grades 1-11 who are identified for GT services will begin services in the fall of 2025.

• The decision of the GT placement committee will be sent to parents via email the first week of February for students currently in kindergarten and the first week of June for students currently in grades 1-12.

Our beloved Brock counselor, Kellie Johnson, has been presented with an opportunity to continue her counseling career at Crossroads High School in Burleson. Much of Mrs. Johnson's career has been dedicated to supporting students at the secondary level, making this transition a natural next step. While she will deeply miss the students at Brock Elementary, she is committed to ensuring a seamless transition as Mackenzie Welch steps into this vital role as our new counselor.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Johnson for the unwavering support she has provided to our students, families, and staff over the past two years. Her dedication and compassion have left a lasting impact on our school community.

Mrs. Welch will share more about herself in an upcoming "Meet the New Counselor" update in our next newsletter. We are excited to welcome her to this new role and look forward to working together to continue supporting the Brock Elementary community.
