Thoughts from Dr. Cohen
Last week provided a true sample of spring. I’ll admit, last week started a little hard for our middle school students as we reset a cell phone policy. By the time Friday rolled around, they were playing, talking and laughing at recess. They were just being kids! One thing I love about the P-8 setting is that kids stay younger just a little longer here. As our school grows and as the years pass, I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish when our kids are here from 4 years old to 14 years old! Imagine what 10 years of working together can do for our kids. I know they will be academically ready, I know they will have a strong sense of self, and I know they will be able to do anything in life they choose. While the week started hard, shaking off the lull of Spring Break, the warm weather and the fact that we are here together provided a nice end to our week. The next couple of weeks are big for our school as we gear up for our State testing.
CMAS tests are the only common measuring tool for students in grades 3 through 8 in Colorado. Participation is important because results help students, parents, schools and districts understand whether students have mastered the content they need to know by the end of the school year and are on track to be ready for college or career after graduation.
You must submit a written, signed request each school year to the school to opt out your child from state tests only. Please remember, the tests’ results are important for the school, the district, and the state, as well as your students when examining how they are doing with state standards compared to other students. Please contact Erik Cohen, Jackie Whitney or Carrier Swanson if you have any questions. Due to our staffing capacity during testing, any student who is opting out of CMAS needs to remain home until testing is completed. Please contact your student’s classroom teacher for specific times as they vary per grade level.

Hello all, Soccer Stars starts tomorrow 3.25.2024. We will meet in the common area near the gym. We have had such so much interest in this program that we will be closing registration on Wednesday 3.27.2024. From there we will determine if we need to break into two classes. If you were on the fence about joining, please don't wait. Any questions, let April Banaitis know.
