Things To Know
ATTENTION 4TH GRADE FAMILIES!
Step Up Day has been scheduled for the morning of June 4th! Our students will take a bus to Wilson Middle School with their teachers and support staff to tour the building, meet their new team members, and have their questions answered!
Additionally, please take a moment to review the 4th to 5th grade transition timeline of events here!
SOLAR ECLIPSE!
We're excited to inform you about the upcoming partial solar eclipse, visible in Natick on April 8th, 2024! While the total eclipse will be visible over many parts of the country, here in Massachusetts, outside the "Path of Totality", we will be able to view a 93% magnitude eclipse at around 3:29 pm.
This rare celestial event offers a unique learning opportunity for our students to explore the wonders of space and science. To ensure their safety while viewing the eclipse, all students at Lilja will receive eclipse viewing glasses to take home with them. These glasses are ISO approved and specially designed to protect their eyes during the event. Our school will provide educational resources and activities to enhance students' understanding of this extraordinary event. However, we will not be giving students the opportunity to view the eclipse while with us.
While viewing the eclipse can be a fascinating experience, it's essential to take precautions to ensure everyone's safety. We encourage you to discuss the solar eclipse with your child and review these safety guidelines together. Keep in mind: the only safe way to look directly at the uneclipsed or partially eclipsed Sun is through special-purpose solar filters, such as these “eclipse glasses.” Ordinary sunglasses, even very dark ones, are not safe for looking at the Sun; they transmit far more sunlight than is safe for our eyes.
We hope these resources will help you witness the magic of the solar eclipse with your family!
LOST & FOUND WILL BE DONATED!
Any items remaining in the Lilja Lost and Found will be donated over April Break. While teachers will be bringing classes by and reminding students to check, please consider stopping by to look for items that belong to your family!

Are you interested in supporting the Lilja community, but not sure where to start? Here are two ways to get involved:
- The Lilja Carnival Committee: The Lilja Carnival will be held on the last day of school (now 6/14 with the one snow day) and is our biggest fundraising event of the year! It is also a great community event that the kids look forward to as they kick off summer vacation. In the past, money raised has gone towards supporting school wide events and teachers' mini grant applications for their classroom. Carnival Committee involvement includes meetings/prep work prior to the event and participation day of.
- Yearbook: Are you interested in helping the Lilja community from the comfort of your own home? Shahnaz Islam, our amazing Yearbook Coordinator the last few years, is stepping down from this role after this year and we are searching for her replacement. She will provide guidance to get you off the ground and point you in the right direction to answer your questions.
