Love-First, Last and Always

As we learn about and live this year's faith theme; Love-First, Last and Always, we are called to know God's unconditional love for us and respond to others with His challenge to love one another as we are loved. Love, by our Catholic faith, is not the roses and hearts kind, but the kind where we will the good of others as a child of God. In our school community, every day we have opportunities to respond to others with this love.

Last Friday students and staff spent some time outside integrating faith, physical literacy, and collaboration while celebrating this year's theme. The pictures below speak for themselves of the LOVE that is evident within our amazing school community.

The fees you are being charged are for student field trips, presentations, tech fees, and other school-related activities. These fees have been applied to your child's account in PowerSchool to enable you to pay on-line with a debit card or credit card. However, if you wish to pay by cash or cheque, please send it to the school office (make cheques payable to Elk Island Catholic Schools). If you have other questions or require assistance with the online payment, please contact our school at 780-998-7777. If you are experiencing financial hardship please review the fee waiver here or contact the principal, Mrs. Bonnie-Lynne Boehm, to discuss support.

Ms. Dexter took our students outside and challenged them with a task to build a shelter for our Canadian winters. Their Hula Hoops represented their "land space". Students explored how shelters need walls and a roof, and what materials could be utilized as insulation. Just look at the engagement! It was awesome learning!

This week our Mystery Reader was Mrs. Manca! She shared one of her favourite library stories about the joys of grandparents. Mrs. Manca LOVES being a Baba!

Grade 3 proudly presents “A Homegrown Bookfair”

Many book donations have come in! Please continue to donate gently used books for our HomeGrown Bookfair led by our grade threes! For your convenience, there will be book donation boxes set up outside of both grade three classrooms and the library.

On Friday, December 6th, Grade threes will host, “A Homegrown Bookfair”. All books will be 50 cents each. Students will come with their class and can shop for themselves and for Christmas gifts. All money raised will be donated to Valeda House.

We are so excited to announce that every one of our grade fours are a part of our Servant Leadership Squad! Students have been placed on one of our four leadership teams: Faith, School Spirit, Young Citizens, or Healthy Living. Our grade fours will engage in many leadership opportunities throughout our school community this year and develop important skills that will help them become all they are called to be in the future. Every team met together this week to plan. T-shirts are ordered and we are EXCITED to lead and serve!
