Holiday Spirit Week
Please mark your calendars for our upcoming Holiday Spirit Week in December. Students are invited to dress up each day to support the theme!
- Monday Dec. 16th: Polar Express/PJ Day
- Tuesday Dec. 17th: Wacky Winter Wear Day
- Wednesday Dec. 18th: Holiday Hat/Sock Day
- Thursday Dec. 19th: Holiday Colors (red, blue, green) or Holiday T-shirts
- Friday Dec. 20th: Dress Your Best!
Green Team Collection Drive
The South Green Team will be recycling holiday lights and alkaline batteries from now through December 20th. Collection boxes will be in the school entryway. Please send in these to be recycled with your students.
Gingerbread House Competition
South's Home for the Holiday's Gingerbread house competition is back for another year! South families and staff sign up to build gingerbread houses that are entirely edible. Please click on the flyer to view the guidelines for the competition: Gingerbread Flyer 24 Then, throughout the week, students and families can vote on their favorite houses using change. But before we can hold this competition we need families and staff to sign up to build a house! Gingerbread houses can be dropped off at South Elementary on Sunday, December 15th, from 5:00-6:00 pm. Please follow this link to enter a gingerbread house! Gingerbread House Sign Up The sign-up closes on December 13th.
Voting night is December 17th from 6:00-7:30 pm. There will be hot chocolate and candy canes for families to enjoy. To volunteer at family voting please click here HOT CHOCOLATE VOLUNTEER. All the proceeds go to Habitat for Humanity!
Lost and Found
We will have all of the items out for our Gingerbread Event on Wednesday, December 17th. We will be dropping off all remaining items to Goodwill on Dec. 20th. Please remind your child(ren) to check the lost and found table to claim items.
PBIS Prize Donations
We are looking for small gently used toys for student prizes. Items such as hot wheels cars, small bouncy balls, mini key chains, mini stuffed animals, etc. would be greatly appreciated! If you have any items to donate, please feel free to send them in with your child, to the office. Please label PBIS prizes. Thank you!

Let’s “bake” the season extra sweet for our incredible teachers! We’re inviting you to whip up (or pick up) 3 dozen of your favorite cookies or treats to share with our amazing staff. Drop-off is on Thursday, December 19, from 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM (or by 9:00 AM if that’s easier).

Shoe Sheriff Challenge in PE
Howdy, Partners! Y’all, it’s time to saddle up for the Shoe Sheriff Challenge! Mrs. J and Mr. Gajewski are lookin’ for students who can wrangle their laces and tie their shoes like true cowhands. If your young buckaroo can show off their shoe-tyin’ skills, they’ll earn a spot on the mighty Shoe Sheriff Star, be sworn in as an official Shoe Sheriff, and take home a shiny Shoe Sheriff badge! So, giddy up and get to practicin’ at home—there’s a whole lotta pride and a badge waitin’ for ‘em on the PE frontier!

Congratulations to our PBIS award winners for the month of November!
In session 5 of the Harry Potter Club, we listened to new chapters, made dog cookie snacks, designed dragon eggs and played a life sized version of HP Trivial Pursuit. So much magical fun packed into one session!
In art class this week, Mrs. Gulgren’s class had a blast finger painting and learning how to mix primary colors to create secondary colors!
