Meeting Recap
The District 146 Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15 at the Robert Procunier Administration Center in Tinley Park.
During the meeting, the Board heard the following from Superintendent Dr. Jeff Stawick:
- October 25 is Principal Appreciation Day. Dr. Stawick thanked District 146 principals for all they do for their students and staff.
- The Superintendent’s PTA/PTO/PACT breakfast was held on October 9. Dr. Stawick informed the Board that the meeting resulted in wonderful conversation and great ideas from parents. Some of the suggestions are already being worked on by administration.
- Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Monday, November 4. Parents will receive information on scheduling appointments from their schools.
- The District has started planning for the next phase of renovations at Central Middle School. The District is working with architects to complete some of those projects in the summer of 2025.
- The CMS Boys Softball Team enjoyed an undefeated season and won the SWIC Championship. They were celebrated by students and staff during a Walk of Champions through the halls of the middle school.
- The total compensation reports for administrators and Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) employees earning more than $75,000 have been updated on the District website. The District is required to inform the Board of Education of their posting during a meeting.
- The District’s Policy and Governance Committee met to review a list of policy revisions suggested by the Policy Reference Education Subscription Service (PRESS). The Board will be asked to ratify the updates at the November Board Meeting.
- Dr. Stawick shared the quarterly investment report prepared by Jeff Charleston, Director of Business Services.
The Board also heard the following:
- The president of the teachers’ union said that staff is preparing for classroom Halloween parties, and are looking forward to the Parent Teacher Conferences in November.
The Board took the following action at the meeting:
- Approved the sale of two of the District’s oldest maintenance vehicles.
- Authorized the District to purchase two new maintenance vehicles not to exceed $75,000 each.
Before adjourning, the Board met in closed session to discuss personnel matters.

Next Board Meeting
The next regular Board of Education meeting will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024 at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Media Center at Central Middle School, 18146 S. Oak Park Avenue in Tinley Park.
