There is no school October 31 and November 1 for K-5 Parent/Teacher Check-ins. If you have a student in Kindergarten through 5th grade, watch for communication from their teacher for a check-in.

The Wellness Committee is a group of volunteers who work together to bring health and wellness awareness, education, and opportunities to students and parents. The Wellness Committee is responsible for reviewing policies that pertain to health and wellness, in addition to creating programs that promote healthy choices amongst our students. The Wellness Committee is composed of board members, parents, healthcare professionals, community members, teachers, and leadership at PPCS. The variety of backgrounds that this committee brings, offers a well-rounded panel of people who are working to improve the health of our PPCS community. We welcome new members and new ideas. If you are interested in participating in our wellness committee, please email Tanya at tsnodgrass@palouseprairieschool.org. Linked below is a survey asking what you think are the most pressing health and wellness issues that face our Student CREW. The information gathered from this survey will help the Wellness Committee create awareness and educational opportunities for students and families that address the most pressing issues. Please take a minute to complete the survey.

PPCS is working with our local CHAS clinic to schedule vision screening. In order to have your student participate, we must have your medical form returned with vision screening selected. If you haven't already, please complete and return the medical consent form that was sent home with students earlier this month. Contact the office if you haven't received the form. We must have one on file for each family.

Portrait EFX will be on site to retake pictures Thursday, October 24. They will be doing retakes, makeups, as well as taking pictures of siblings. If you would like your students to do sibling pictures, you must notify the office by email by October 23.

Due to court availability, the middle school boys basketball start dates have been pushed back. The 7th and 8th A team selection practices will now be on Tuesday October 22nd and Wednesday October 23rd in the Bear Den (MMS Gym). 7th will practice from 3:30-5:00pm and 8th will practice from 5:00-6:30pm. On Thursday October 24th the A teams will practice at McDonald Elementary from 3:30-5:00pm and the B teams will practice in the Bear Den from 3:15-4:30pm.

All athletes will need to register for our middle school basketball team through Register My Athlete (https://www.registermyathlete.com/). All registration paperwork needs to be completed and uploaded into Register My Athlete by 12:00pm on Monday October 21st to ensure your athlete can participate in practice on 10/22. Athletes who do not have a current sports physical (sports physicals are good for 2 years) will not be allowed to participate in practice.

6th grade intramural basketball will have their first practice on Monday October 28th in the Bear Den from 3:15-4:30pm.

Following doesn’t mean you have to join the committee or volunteer with us, but we would love to share what we’re doing with you! Please take a look!

The Christmas for Kids application and instructions are now available at www.ChristmasForKidsMoscow.org. Print the Application (2 sided please) and the Instructions and distribute as you wish, or it can be filled out online. Families can also pick up an application at the Hope Center in Moscow. Read the Instructions for more details. We'd like to get as many applications as possible returned to us by the end of October since we begin assigning families to sponsors Nov. 1. We will still accept them through November, but the earlier we can get them returned to us, the better.

Parents are welcome to attend community circles with kindergarten through 5th grade. They're held on Fridays beginning at 8:30. Each community circle celebrates an EL Design Principle.

Latah Recovery Center is stirring up something delicious with their 6th Annual Soup's On! fundraiser where they ladle out bowls of soup and breads from over half a dozen local restaurants, creating a delicious stew of community soup-port for friends, neighbors, and co-workers in recovery.

Wednesday, November 6 from 11 to 2 a the 1912 Center. Tickets are available for $20 each from Recovery Center Board members, at the Moscow Food Co-op or by sending a check to 531 S. Main.
