Spring Forward
Jenison High School Families
Jenison High School Families,
The spring season is upon us. While Mother Nature can't quite seem to make up her mind just yet, we know warm weather is right around the corner. This means Spring Break, state testing, spring conferences, Prom, and the Graduation ceremony for the Class of 2024. Congratulations on great seasons for all of our winter athletes and good luck to those competing at the state level.
A special congratulations to our JHS Esports team for securing the first victory in school history against Marquette High School last week. Also, good luck to our DECA students competing at the state competition in Detroit and internationals in Anaheim.
Finally, our teachers are busy prepping for the new digital SAT in April, use the table of contents on the left to access the spring testing schedule.
Parent Reminders
Even if we have a medical note on file, we ask that you still call to excuse your student absences. This is the fastest way to ensure we keep accurate records.
Please help us enforce our dress code by reminding your student of proper dress for school. Student Handbook pg. 36
Go Wildcats!

HS Spring Musical - Big Fish
(Tickets can be purchased at jpsarts.com)
Big Fish is an extraordinary musical that reminds us why we love telling stories and why we enjoy doing theatre! Big Fish tells the story of Edward Bloom, and his incredible, larger-than-life stories, His “big fish” stories thrill everyone around him, except for his son, Will, who is about to have a child of his own and is determined to find the truth behind his father’s epic tales. This production is overflowing with many colorful characters such as a witch, a giant, a mermaid, and many more! This epic tale is full of heart and humor. Families will enjoy an experience that’s richer, funnier, and bigger than life itself.

Seniors
FAFSA: The FAFSA won't begin processing mid-March. Due to the extreme delay this year, it is very important to complete FAFSA ASAP so your family will receive financial aid information as early as possible to make an informed decision about the cost of college. Even if your student is not considering college or trade school, completing the FAFSA will provide helpful information about potential financial aid should they decide to attend.
All students whose families complete the FAFSA will receive a $25 Amazon gift card! Gift card distribution will begin late March.
30% of JHS seniors have submitted their FAFSA forms already! Our goal is 70%!
Would you like help completing your FAFSA? Watch for more information about FAFSA workshops March 12 and March 21!
Sophomores and Juniors
College Fairs and Rep Visits: 10th and 11th graders can sign up to meet with college reps during Advisory through the rest of the school year. This is a great way to get information and learn about college options!

Tuesday, April 23 from 6-8pm: NACAC National College Fair at DeVos Place

Class of 2024
Update regarding Walking Partners this year - It has been decided that because the adjustment came as a surprise to the Class of 2024, the tradition of selecting walking partners for this year’s ceremony will continue. Please check your school email for the Letter Update regarding Walking Partners from Dr. Leiter. This letter contains the Walking Partner link/form to sign up for walking partners. The deadline to select a walking partner is Friday, April 12, 2024. If you do not sign up, no worries, a partner will be assigned to you.
Seniors: A reminder that your graduation announcements, accessories, and cap and gown products will be delivered at school during all lunches on Thursday, March 14th in the Auditorium. If you owe a balance, please make sure that it is paid in full prior to delivery day. To pay off your balance you may do so online or by calling Jostens at 616-330-2141. If you plan to make final payment on delivery day at school, only cash (correct change please) or money orders can be accepted. Checks cannot be accepted for final payment at school. Attendance/Appointment Call-In Process
Help us minimize classroom disruption during instructional time
Regular attendance is crucial to success in school. Parents, if your student misses school, please be sure to call our attendance line (616-457-3400, option 1) to excuse the absence prior to the start of the school day. If your student has an appointment during the school day and needs to be dismissed from classes, please call the office before the start of the school day and leave this information on the attendance line. By following this process, it will avoid disruption of staff calling into classrooms during instructional time for students to come to the office to sign out. Calling in prior to the start of the school day, the attendance office can provide your student with a pass to leave at the requested time. We greatly appreciate your help with this process.
Reminder: New Feature - Submit attendance through PowerSchool
