Happy 2025!
Due to how the weekends fell on the calendar, this Winter Break has been unusually long. When school resumes, it will be two weeks and two days since your excited, pajama-clad kids dashed out the school door with arms full of decorations & treats. I suspect that the words from the song “It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” — the part that goes, “And Mom and Dad can hardly wait for school to start again” — might ring truer than usual this year.
Hopefully your family was able to balance the inevitable holiday hustle with making new memories of love, fun and friendship. Perhaps a good test of a great holiday comes from the wise words of Bobby, a seven-year-old. He writes, "Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.”
As January 6 approaches, the above words “can hardly wait” may apply more to parents than teachers, but know that the Emerson staff will be ready to reunite with your children to make 2025 a great year of learning.

Canvas
CANVAS LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM!
All students, grades Young 5s-12 use Canvas, a learning management system. Classroom teachers use Canvas to provide instruction, resources, activities, and assessments for students, as well as parent communication.
Parents are encouraged to set up a parent/observer account to stay abreast of student learning. Canvas will allow parents to:
- Contact their child’s teacher
- View grades, due dates, and events
- See, and in many cases access, what the child is doing at school
- Support an absent student
- View classroom and building announcements
