Spring, Snow, and Shenanigans
Welcome back from Spring Break! Or should we say… Second Winter Break? Despite the calendar promising us spring, our students returned to a playground covered in snow!
Our April Fools’ spirit was in full swing! If your child came home insisting that our main bulletin board was upside down, they weren’t pulling a prank on you.
This month's Spirit Day was Neon Day, and our hallways looked like a walking highlighter collection. Students and staff rocked their brightest, boldest, most electric outfits, proving that school spirit shines extra bright when you add a little neon.
It’s been a week of unexpected fun, and we’re so glad to have your amazing kids back!
Term 2 Report Cards Available Online
Did you know that only 62% of our Term 2 report cards have been viewed by WBF families? Let's get our numbers up to 100% of our parents and caregivers opening their child's report card!
Term 2 report cards are now available online and can be accessed through the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Log in to your account and click on the “Report Card” button in the left-hand sidebar. If you need help accessing your Parent Portal account, contact the school office at 780-464-3330.
Student Voice Forum
We believe that our students' voices matter! The Student Voice Forum is a special opportunity for class representatives from each grade to meet with school administrators and share their classmates’ thoughts, ideas, and suggestions. These forums focus on three key areas:
-
School Experience & Environment: What do students love about our school, and how can we make it an even better place to learn and grow?
-
Student Well-Being & Support: Are there ways we can better support students—academically, socially, or emotionally?
-
School Events & Activities: What events, clubs, or activities do students want more of, and how can we make school events even more fun and inclusive?
By giving students a platform to share their perspectives, we’re helping them become confident communicators, thoughtful problem-solvers, and active members of our school community. We’re proud to partner with them in making our school the best it can be!
Education Week
Education Week takes place April 7-11. Led by the Alberta Teachers’ Association and Alberta School Councils’ Association, the annual event is celebrated by school communities provincewide with activities focused on the importance of education.
Spring Flowers Fundraiser
Our popular Spring Flowers Fundraiser is back—just in time for Mother’s Day! This year, you can purchase a variety of beautiful blooms as well as tomatoes, strawberries, and herbs.
Thanks to feedback from families last year, we’re partnering with a new greenhouse to provide even better quality plants.

Important Information About Field Trips
Students with unpaid school or field trip fees will not be able to participate in any remaining field trips for the 2024-25 school year. If your child’s class is attending a field trip and they are unable to join, an alternate program will be provided at the school.
Field trips are co-curricular activities designed to enhance classroom learning, but they are not required to meet curriculum outcomes. Our school operates on a cost-recovery, non-profit basis, meaning fees collected go directly toward covering the costs of these experiences.
To review your school fee information for the 2024-25 school year, please log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal and select “Student Fees” where you can view and pay any outstanding fees online.
If you need assistance or would like to discuss a payment plan, please contact the school at 780-464-3330, and we’d be happy to help.

Did You Know?
EIPS prepares a budget in the spring based on projected enrolment, funding, estimated costs and Board of Trustees budget priorities. Before the Division can finalize its budget for the next school year, we need to wait for the provincial government to provide the funding manual for school authorities and EIPS’ funding profile. This year’s funding manual is expected to be released in early April and the funding profile should be available mid-March. EIPS plans to publish its spring budget in May. Learn more
