Camp Invention is Back
Camp Invention® is coming to St. Johns Public Schools at Oakview Elementary!
In partnership with the National Inventors Hall of Fame®, St. Johns Public Schools is excited to offer the nationally acclaimed Camp Invention program to children entering kindergarten through sixth grade.
This inspiring, weeklong summer experience provides opportunities for open-ended, hands-on exploration of science, technology, engineering and more! Taking on a variety of exhilarating activities each day, children have fun collaborating with friends, thinking creatively, and inventing their own solutions to real-world challenges.
The week begins on June 17th with Rachael Post serving as Director (a St. Johns Public School teacher). The all-new 2024 program will spark the imagination of both new and returning campers with an adventure full of inspiration, innovation, and unforgettable discoveries!
During this action-packed, confidence-boosting program, young innovators will:
- • In the Game: Develop their own sports ball and customize a light-up game with a unique brand and logo as they explore athletics, design and innovation
- • Let’s Glow: Discover the science of light through illuminating inventions and fluorescent animals, then build a one-of-a-kind Glow Box using circuitry and ultraviolet light
- • Operation HydroDrop: Embark on an epic global operation to tackle water challenges around the world, learning the role that water plays with the help of a robotic lab-on-wheels
- • Prototyping Game Show: Star as a contestant on a prototyping game show, molding and shaping ideas into awesome inventions using everyday items and a DIY toolbox
Early registration discounts are available! Register using SUM25 by 3/27 to save $25 off the $270 registration fee. Availability is limited, so visit invent.org/mylocalcamp or call 800-968-4332 to secure your child’s spot today!

Spring is Here!
The snow is gone and the ground can be wet and muddy in places. Accidents happen and we are doing our best to keep kids dry and clean. We are still asking that students bring boots to school to play in areas off the blacktop and woodchips.
If you can please label students outdoor gear so if it gets lost it can find its way home.
Riley Elementary adheres to the following district-wide guidelines:
* If the temperature is below 50 degrees students will be required to wear a coat. If the temperature is at or above 50 degrees coats are optional.* Students may only be excused from outdoor recess with a signed doctor’s note. If your child is well enough to come to school, he/she is well enough to go to recess.
