LYNX Scholars are off and running in 2025! Students finished 1st semester strong and are ready for new learning experiences! Check out the photo gallery below for snapshots of December experiences with LYNX partners focused on physical and mental health, emergency communications, finances, and aviation as well as a list of upcoming LYNX experiences to kick off 2nd semester. As always, Learning Lab staff are ready to support students daily with academics from 2:20-3:40 pm in the media center, followed by free supper to all FHS students in the cafeteria!

"Mental health crises are at an all time high. Nature and the environment can help with mental health. I was surprised that (our LYNX partner) went to Johns Hopkins University. JHU is a school I plan on applying to! Yes! I learned more about a career I never heard of before. Thanatology is the study of death and grief. I learned how much of an impact nature and the environment can have on a person's mental health." -Sarah

"Soaking your feet can bring you peace and improve your mental health. I was surprised by how relaxing it was. This experience helped because it made me realize how I need to take better care of my mental health." -Maya

"You can eat healthy and enjoy it, and making food is fun! I was most surprised by the nutrients testing at the end. The experience helped me to understand more about looking for healthier alternatives to not so healthy foods." -Davien

“I learned many different paths and information that people don't always share when it comes to the medical field -- different routes, expenses, debt, salary, that not a lot of people want to talk about. And I found (the fact) that (our LYNX partner) was an art major very interesting because I enjoy art. It surprised me that you don't have to be a biology major or anything like that to be accepted or wanted in medical school.” –Nariah

“I learned about the many ways a physical therapist will interact with professionals in sports medicine. I am really thankful for this LYNX experience because it helped to solidify my decision even more about becoming a physical therapist.” --Logan

All FHS students have the option to sign up for the Learning Lab using the "LYNX iPhone" landing page posted in the LYNX FHS 2024-25 Schoology group.

Students must sign up by 1:15 pm on the day they plan to attend.

• Students must enter the media center by 2:30 pm.
• LYNX staff will assign seating.
• Students must work on class assignments until 3:40 pm.

The media center closes at the 3:40 pm bell.

All students report to the cafeteria for supper and bus service.

Students may sign out before 3:40 pm if they are car riders/walkers.

Supper is available FREE to ALL Frederick High School students daily in the cafeteria from 3:40-4:15pm. Menus are available on the FCPS website!
