Good afternoon, Wade families!
We've had another wonderful week at Wade Elementary. Students have been hard at work learning and showing what they know. It is a refreshing sight to see student work in the hallways because it reminds us of why it is so important to continue supporting the development of future leaders. Thank you to all our PTO parents who attended the meeting last week and thank you to our parent volunteers with your support through the book fair. Your participation, large or small, makes a huge impact on our school community. Take some time this weekend to talk with your child about something they learned this week that was new or fun!
Our Character Trait of the month is Self-Control. Self-Control is Choosing to do what’s best even when you don’t want to. Make a list of times when self-control is toughest. Ask your family to help you come up with a list and ask them to help you show self-control. Some good ideas might be setting goals to limit screen time, responding with kindness, sticking to a bedtime, eating healthy foods, listening and following directions at school, developing an exercise program. Try to set some goals and monitor your progress as you practice self-control.
We are having more and more students showing up to school late and without a parent to sign them in. Please note that late students should be walked in and signed in by an adult.
Lastly, we will not permit anyone entry into the building without a physical ID even when dropping off students. This is done for the safety of your children. We also ask that you not hold the door open for others. Everyone should ring the doorbell and show their ID.
Thursday, October 24th is our Fall Field Day. Students will get to spend half of their day having fun and engaged in team building activities and games. Please be sure your child is dressed for the weather, as it will be held outside and has comfortable shoes on.
Friday, October 25th is Wade's Pink Out to show our support for Breast Cancer Awareness. Have your child wear pink on Friday!
Friday, October 25th is also Trunk or Treat at Wade from 5:30-6:30. Please see the information below with more details.
Thank you,
William Miller,
Principal

Important Food Allergy Information Form
If you’ve noted a food allergy on your student’s emergency card, we kindly ask that a diet modification form be filled out by your child’s healthcare provider. This little step is super important—it ensures that our food services team flags your student’s account correctly, so they can enjoy breakfast and lunch without any worries about allergens. Let’s work together to keep our students safe and happy during mealtime!
Ice Cream Option in the Cafe on Fridays
Ice Cream will be on sale every Friday beginning September 27 for $1. Students can bring in a dollar or you can add money to their account using the My School Bucks link.
Dismissal Information
Any changes to a student's daily dismissal arrangements must be made in writing and indicate who is picking up the student. The person picking up the student must present their photo identification. Any adult picking up a child must be on the emergency card, or we will have to make a phone call asking the custodial parent on the emergency card if the person has permission to pick up the child.
If there are any changes to a student's normal dismissal procedures, you should email the front office staff and the child's classroom teacher. You should email Nicole Sackett, nsackett@ccboe.com and Maritza Davis, madavis@ccboe.com along with the teacher about any changes.
My School Bucks
Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) has moved its meal prepayment system to MySchoolsBucks for the 2024-2025 school year. The system replaces MyPaymentsPlus and is accessible at any time. Parents with existing MySchoolBucks accounts can log into the system and load money by credit/debit card or e-check to their child’s meal account.
With the new platform, parents are not able to divide funds between a meal account and a general account (used to buy a la carte items). Any money left on student accounts was moved to the new platform.
Visit www.myschoolbucks.com to access or create a new account. Parents creating new accounts must know their child’s six-digit student identification number. The number is in ParentVue, on the main page for the desktop version, and under the main student menu in the mobile app (click on the three lines in the lower left-hand corner to view a student’s child’s ID which will show their ID number).
A free MySchoolBucks mobile app is available in Google and Apple stores. The app icon is blue with My School Bucks written in white text in the square.
Birthday Celebrations
When bringing outside food items to school for a student's birthday or as part of a classroom celebration, bring store bought, individually packaged treats. Treats that are homemade or not individually packaged with nutritional labels will not be served to students. Each grade level distributes birthday treats differently, so please make arrangements with your child's teacher ahead of time. Additionally, teachers can only distribute party invitations at school if there is an invitation for each student in the class.
Medications at School
Students may not transport medication to and from school; parents/guardians can drop off medication during school hours. Additionally, a completed and signed medical authorization form must be on file in order for medication to be dispensed. Please contact Mrs. Powell, school nurse, with any questions or additional information.
