Message From The Principal

Westbrook Families,

This week we had our first PTA sponsored assembly. Game of Warriors, is Brazilian Capoeira which is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that combines dance, acrobatics, and music. Students thoroughly enjoyed this experience as they learned about Capoeria and some students even had the chance to participate! A big thank you so the PTA for sponsoring this fun event!

This week all students also participated in bus evacuation drills. While we know that not all students take the bus to and from school we do know that students will have the opportunities for field trips across the year and bus safety is very important for all.

Please know that All District 34 schools will meet the state requirements to hold fire, weather and lockdown drills this year. We work very closely with the Glenview Police and Fire Departments to run these drills. Please know that all of these drills are presented in student friendly language and we work hard to ensure that all students feel safe during the drills. Our fall drills will be held in the coming weeks. For student safety, we do not share the day or time. Per state law, parents can opt their children out of participating in lockdown drills. If you do not wish your child to participate in the upcoming drill, please email me.

Please remember that we do not have school tomorrow, Friday September 27. We also do not have school on Thursday, October 3.

On Friday October 11, you may see some additional Police and Fire vehicles on site. Please know that there is not an emergency happening at Westbrook on this day, but instead our police and firefighters from Glenview will be welcoming students to school. We refer to this day as "High Five Friday" and it is a way to build rapport with our Glenview first responders!
