June: Living the Big Three Through Cooperation
Dear Families and Caregivers,
As we enter the final month of the school year, we are filled with excitement and gratitude for all we have accomplished together. It’s hard to believe how quickly the year has flown by, and we are so proud of the growth and resilience our students have shown.
Our Character Strong theme for June is Cooperation, a fitting focus as we celebrate the power of working together to achieve success. Whether it's on the field, in the classroom, or during special events, our students are learning what it means to be part of a team and to support one another.
We are looking forward to a calendar full of exciting events that will help us close out the year with pride and joy. Field Day, Baseball Day, class parties, and our 6th Grade Celebration are all wonderful opportunities to reflect on the friendships and memories made this year. We are especially excited for a brand-new tradition: our 6th Grade Clap-In, where our parents will stand outside to cheer on our graduating 6th graders. It will be a meaningful way to honor their journey as they prepare for middle school.
As we wrap up the year, we continue to reinforce our Big Three:
Make Safe Choices. Be Respectful. Build Community. These guiding principles remain at the heart of everything we do and help us finish the year strong—together.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Let’s make this final month a joyful and cooperative celebration of all we’ve accomplished as a school community!
With gratitude,
Dr. J and the UES Leadership Team
6th Grade "Clap-In" Celebration- A New Tradition
We are excited to kick off a new tradition at UES! On Thursday, June 19th, immediately following student arrival, families of our 6th grade students are invited to join us at 8:30 AM for a special "Clap-In" to celebrate their child's last day at the Upper Elementary School. Parents may begin parking in the back lot around 8:20 AM. Students will walk the back loop of the school—by the bike racks and 6th grade classrooms—as families cheer them on. This is a parent-only event, and we welcome posters, cheers, and lots of school spirit as we send our students off to WAMS with pride!
Yearbook!!!!
Did you forget to order a yearbook? Well, you are in luck! There were a small amount of extra yearbooks ordered.
Sixth graders will have first priority and yearbooks will go on sale for them on Thursday, June 12th. (Note: The 6th grade students will not receive their yearbooks at that time. They will receive it on the day of the 6th grade celebration!)
Fourth and Fifth graders will have the opportunity to purchase any leftover yearbooks on Tuesday, June 17th. The cost is $18.00 CASH ONLY!
Read It Forward Book- A Rover's Story!
Next year, our whole school will be reading A Rover’s Story, the inspiring journey of Resilience, a Mars rover who begins to experience human emotions as he learns from the scientists who built him. With his drone companion Fly, Res faces the harsh challenges of Mars and discovers what it truly means to be resilient. We’re excited to explore this powerful story of courage, growth, and perseverance together!

Reminder: Dress Code & Weather-Appropriate Clothing
As the weather continues to change, please help us ensure that students are dressed appropriately for the season. We want everyone to be comfortable, safe, and ready to learn!
Just a reminder that all clothing should follow our school dress code as outlined in the student handbook. This includes wearing clothing that is suitable for learning and for outdoor activities like recess.
Thank you for your support in helping our students stay focused and prepared each day!
