February 2025
Message from Principals
Happy February! There are lots of exciting things happening these month! We'll kick off the month celebrating our school counselors, and we'll have hat day on Friday, February 7th! Students are also encouraged to wear red on Friday, February 7th for National Wear Red Day for American Heart Month! Don Tyson School of Innovation will be hosting a parent night on Thursday, February 13th for parents of 5th graders who might be interested in attending school there next year, and DTSOI enrollment for next school year opens on Friday, February 28th at 10am. On February 14th we will be enjoying class parties for Valentine's Day and our monthly student birthday lunch. We will also celebrate our SRO and CSSO on that day! There is no school on Monday, February 17th, and we will have picture day on Thursday, February 27th. Finally, please save the date for student-led conferences. These will take place March 10th and 11th, and we look forward to seeing our families then! It's going to be another great month at Monitor!

Student Check In/Check Out Procedures
The school day begins at 7:45am. Students who arrive after 7:45am should be checked in by an adult in the front office. If you need to change the way your child is going home, please contact your child's teacher or call the office by 2pm. Also, please note that if you are checking out your student, students will not be called to the office until a parent is in the office to pick them up so students are in class for instruction for as long as possible.
Inclement Weather
If there is inclement weather, please check the Springdale Public School Facebook page and the local news for school closings. As a general rule, we do not post if we are having school, only if the school will be closed.
Valentine's Day Party Fast Pass
If you are a parent who is planning to attend class parties on Friday, February 14th and you would like to skip the lines to check in, you can fill out the Google form linked below to let us know you plan to attend and we will preprint your visitor's label. We will only be able to pre-print a visitor's tag for you if you have checked in with your driver's license using our Raptor system this year or if you bring your driver's license to the school prior to February 14th. If you have never checked in using our Raptor system, please bring your driver's license with you when you come. If you are not sure if we have your ID on file, you are welcome to call the office to check. If you have questions about your child's class party, please reach out to your child's teacher.

National School Counselor Week
I hope this message finds you well! My name is Sierra Engelmann, and I am excited to serve as your child’s school counselor here at Monitor Elementary. As National School Counselor Week approaches, I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share a little bit about my role in supporting your child’s academic, emotional, and social development. As the school counselor, my job is to ensure that all students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn. I provide individual and group counseling, help with conflict resolution, and work alongside teachers and families to create a positive and inclusive environment. Whether your child needs support managing their emotions, building friendships, or navigating school challenges, I am here to help. If you ever have concerns or would like to discuss how I can best support your child, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Together, we can create the best possible experience for your child as they grow and thrive in school.
Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of your child’s journey this year!
Warm Regards,
Sierra Engelmann
School Counselor
