Our Family School Liaison Counselor (FSLC)
Hello!
Hello Everyone!
I’m Maddy Darel and I am the Family School Liaison Counsellor (FSLC) here at Heritage Heights School. I am very excited to be a part of the Husky community this year and help support students and families.
My role as an FSLC is to provide mental health supports to students. This can be done through different forms of collaboration, such as small group activities, emotional support in classrooms and individual meetings with students.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or require further information.

Important Information and Events
THANK YOU!
To the staff and students who hosted our kick-off Husky Hour! It was well planned and fun!
To all the parents who attended our Open House. It was great to see so many families and meet parents!
To our Trustee, Mr. John Evans, for attending our Open House. He is so proud of our community and loves to be involved with us!
Prepare for the weather...
As the weather changes, please ensure your child is dressed for spending time outside at recesses. We encourage our students to be outside for fresh air, movement breaks and to socialize.
Staffing Updates
We are pleased to welcome Avril Steirer to the middle school teaching team! Avril comes with experience at these levels and has taught abroad within the International Baccalaureate program. She has a passion for community and physical fitness. Welcome Avril!
Welcome, Bong and Jen to our custodial staff. We appreciate all of your work to keep our school clean!
From the Front Office
DROP OFFS
Drop off in the morning seems to be going well. Please remember NOT to park in the Handicap Zone. If you are coming in with your child, we ask that you park in the lot as the front is for the quick drop and go. The bus loop is not available at any time for parent pick up and drop off. Thanks!
LEAVING EARLY
If your child is leaving during the day (8:25am – 3:20pm) , please let us know at the office (heritage@fsd38.ab.ca) so we can have them ready for you. They are required to sign out at the office so we can account for them. Thank you!
LATES
If your child is late, after 8:35, they are marked as late. They need to check in with Ms. Nieman at the front office before heading to class to ensure the time of their arrival is recorded. Thank you!
SCHOOL FEES
Mrs. Haukenfrers is working behind the scenes to assign fees for families. School fees for Kindergarten through grade 6 have been assigned on your child’s Edsembli account. Please make payments through your parent account. Fees for grade 7-9 will be added as soon as possible. Thank you for patience.
FOOD AND SUPPLIES
Several students have come to the office for additional food. We don’t have anything to give them at this time. As the kids become more active in the day, they are burning more calories. Please add extra snacks for those growing bodies if you notice your child raids the pantry as soon as they are home!
Forks and spoons are not provided by the office. Please ensure these are packed in lunches for your children.
EMERGENCY CONTACT PICK-UPS
At HHTS we take safety seriously. It is imperative that any adult picking up your child, or transporting them to and from school or school sponsored events, are listed as emergency contacts. We will not release your children to any other person, other than the designated parents/guardians unless the person is listed as an emergency contact.
Terry Fox Run 2025
Friday, Sept 20th @ 1:30pm
The 2024 Terry Fox School Run is set for this month, and we are so excited to be taking part! Our event will be taking place on Friday, September 20th at 1:30pm in the gym with the run and walk beginning at 2:00pm.
This event supports vital cancer research while also building incredible school spirit for our students.
Terry Fox donation information was sent out earlier this week to parents! We are very excited to be a part of this year’s Terry Fox event. This is our opportunity to “Try Like Terry, No Matter What,” and go the distance for this year’s event. Please join us to support cancer research while building incredible school spirit for all of our students. Thank you in advance for your support!
