Walk to School Day
International Walk to School Day celebrates the joys of walking and opens the eyes of students, families, schools and community leaders. Held annually during the first Wednesday in October, this event involves communities from more than 40 countries.
Date: Join on Wednesday, October 2nd for Walk to School Day!
Why walk to school?
- It’s FUN! Walking to school energizes students and families, while also strengthening community connections.
- It promotes safety. This event provides a great opportunity to teach and reinforce safe walking habits.
- It encourages physical activity. A morning walk helps kids get the exercise they need for good health.
- It boosts learning. Research from Active Living Research shows that walking can improve alertness and readiness to learn.
- It reduces traffic congestion. Fewer cars around the school means less traffic, making drop-offs smoother for everyone.

Trunk O Treat
Trunks
Each class is asked to host a trunk. You may work with your teacher or class to create a theme, and some will say go for it and pick it. Should you need support with decorations or setting up your trunk the day of the event you may ask your class for help with donations of items and time. A sign up genius is a great tool to help with donations and getting volunteers. Please have fun and be creative. This is a competition and the teachers love to win the trophy. If you would like to host a trunk please sign up using this link and search for your teacher's name. Classes may have more than one trunk if they would like.
This link is for the individual class trunks.

Trunk Hosts
Checkin will begin at 3:30pm and close at 5:00pm for safety reasons. Once your car is parked you will not be able to move or leave until the event is over for safety reasons. All trunk hosts will be contacted 2 weeks prior to the event to go over all instructions. There will be volunteers to stay and pass out candy so you will not have to stay with your trunk.
Volunteers
Trunk or Treat has a great committee working together to make this the best it can be. However, we will need help the day of the event for setup and breakdown. If you are able to come help we would greatly appreciate the extra hands. If you would like to help volunteer with setup and/or breakdown please use this link.

Donations
This event is entirely dependent on donations; specifically, Candy. Without candy we do not have an event. Each class is asked to collect a minimum of 25 to 30 bags of candy. The Costco bags of candy are great in size and price, as well as some of the bulk bags on Amazon. I have created an Amazon wishlist with an assortment of bags of candy to make things easier to donate. Any orders placed will automatically ship directly to the school for convenience. Any and all requests for donations are never mandatory. They are, however; greatly appreciated!

Candy Collection
We will have candy monsters out by the kinder gate and the front gate for a fun and convenient drop as well. Candy can also be sent in with your child to their classroom or dropped at the front office as well. The candy collection is a community effort. The Trunk or Treat committee will collect the candy and put it into a community pile. At Trunk or Treat it will be dispersed amongst all of the trunks.
PBIS- Donations Needed
Thank you so much for everyone who has donated. Every donation helps to build our store! We also have an amazon wishlist: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/365CMF6MP6E5B?ref_=wl_share
