Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year at the Delran Intermediate School! As educators, we arrive at this point of the summer with excitement in anticipation of a new group of young learners who will become a part of our classroom and school community for the next ten months. With each year comes the start of new opportunities and we look forward to September!

We have added new staff to our DIS community:

Ms. Samantha Davis - Teacher, Grade 3

Ms. Kathy Shapiro - Teacher, Grade 3

Ms. Ashley Kenkelen - Teacher, Grade 3

Ms. Elizabeth Kern - Teacher, Band

In addition, Ms. Haas, who was previously the Basic Skills Math Teacher, is now a 4th Grade Teacher. Our Math Coach is Mr. Caldwell, who formerly taught 5th Grade. Mr. McLaughlin has assumed the role of Assistant Principal after teaching 4th Grade.

Please note that parking is limited. More information about our Back to School Nights will be forthcoming.

Please use both carpool lanes for drop off and pick up and proceed all the way through the parking lot to the designated student drop-off area. Students cannot exit vehicles before 8:10 am. Staff members are on morning duty from 8:10 - 8:20 am. After 8:20, students must be signed in at the main office window by a parent/guardian. Cars are not permitted in the bus lane during arrival and dismissal.

Summer Assignments are due upon returning to school and should be handed into their homeroom teacher. Please click here to access Summer Math Assignments. The Summer Reading Assignment can be found below.

If your child will be riding the bus, please be aware that transportation information has been finalized and can be found in the Parent Portal. If you have reviewed busing information in the Parent Portal and still have questions, please contact Transportation Supervisor Sandy Jankowski at (856)461-1553.

Should you need to contact Transportation after hours, such as if your child is on the bus for an extracurricular activity, please contact First Student at (856)764-8653.

Breakfast and Lunch will be served on the first day of school. You can add money to your child's account or review purchases here.

STUDENT BIRTHDAY ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Birthdays are announced daily during our DIS Morning News broadcasts. Summer birthdays are annouunced throughout the month of June. If you would llike to send anything in as an birthday additional acknowledgement, you may send in nonfood items such as pencils or stickers by notifying the homeroom teacher(s) in advance.

CLASS CELEBRATIONS/PARTIES

During the year, there may be classwide celebrations such as Halloween or Spring parties. In the interest of the health and safety of our students, the following are the only food items that will be distributed to students when celebrating classwide events. The homeroom teachers and Room Parents will adhere to this list when coordinating these events.

FAQs

1. Does this list apply to everyday snacks or lunch that I send in with my child?

No, this list does not apply to items that are sent in for daily snack or lunch. This is for class wide celebrations that may periodically take place during the year, such as Halloween, Winter or Spring Break Parties. The Homeroom Teacher will coordinate with the room parent to request that items be sent in for these events.

2. Can I send in items from this list to celebrate my child's birthdday?

No, only non-food items should be sent in, such as pencils or stickers, if you wish to do so.

3. What will happen if I send in items for a class celebration that are not on the approved list?

Any Item that is not on the list will not be distributed and will be returned.

4. What will happen if I send in something on the approved list for my child's birthday?

Food items sent in for birthdays will not be distributed and will be returned.

Chromebooks will be distributed to students on the first day of school. Please note that if you have not completed the Chromebook Policy Acknowledgement in the Parent Portal, your child will not receive a chromebook, so we ask that you complete if you have not already done so.

On behalf of the Delran Education Foundation, we invite you to our annual Back to School Block Party! Join us on Saturday, September 7 4:00-7:00 pm at Delran Community Park for a fun day of games and activities, face painting, a live DJ, food, and a Dunk Tank featuring our very own Delran teachers and staff!
