Thanksgiving Gratitude
As Thanksgiving approaches, we want to take a moment to show gratitude for our incredible teachers, para-professionals, coaches & other staff members. We're inviting you to share a few words of appreciation for any staff member who has made a positive impact on your child.
By taking just a moment to fill out a quick form, your message of thanks will be presented to the staff member as a special note of appreciation. These heartfelt messages will be delivered as certificates to teachers and displayed to celebrate the hard work, dedication, and care they show every day. Your kind words will mean the world to them, and together, we can make this Thanksgiving season a truly meaningful one for our school community. Thank you for helping us show our staff members how much they're valued!
If you are interested in sending a message please click the button below to be directed to the form.

Student-Self ReferralStudent Watershed Watch
On Friday, November 15th, 24 Otsego Junior High School 7th-graders attended TMACOG's 35th Student Watershed Watch (SWW) at the Toledo Zoo. Every year, the SWW brings young people across northwest Ohio together to share their data from the local waterway they sampled to get a snapshot of the quality of water in the Maumee River watershed. Otsego students tested the Tontogany Creek at the Fox-Shank Living Laboratory on October 9 and 10. Students tested for nitrates, phosphates, dissolved oxygen, pH, and inspected the variety of macroinvertebrates they found in the leaf packs they placed in the creek in September. After the sampling, all students worked on their own or with a small group of students to put together a presentation about our findings. The best presentation from each class was chosen to attend the SWW with the best of those presentations being able to share their presentation at the SWW. This year the group from the 7th-period class was chosen to be the group to present.
They worked hard leading up to November 15 to rework their presentation and make it even better than it already was. Their hard work paid off with the group being awarded with the best overall presentation in the 5th-8th grade group. Congratulations to these 7th graders.
Kao’s Kitchen Recipes
How often do you get your student(s) to try new foods? Now they are!
In Intro to FCS, this past week the eighth graders baked Thanksgiving-themed favorites recipes. The famous “Pull-apart Parmesan Dill Bread” is one of those. Each serving is a doughy bite of buttery, golden goodness. They pair wonderfully with the Thanksgiving meal. The new, surprisingly, delicious (to our students) cookie recipe is a Cranberry-Orange Cookie. Each bite is a pop of orange followed by craisin sweetness. What a delicious way to add to the dessert selection for the holidays. Side note: Either recipe can be made gluten-free and/or vegan. Happy baking!
