The mission of Sioux Center Christian School is to disciple God’s children by equipping them with a knowledge and understanding of Christ and His creation so that they can obediently serve God and others as they work and play.
Every Student TREASURED, Every Student TRAINED, Every Student TRANSFORMED
MINI GOLF
The 5th and 6th Discovery Math students took a break from learning more challenging math concepts and were tasked with the assignment of building a mini-golf hole out of cardboard, green felt, and whatever they could find!
They were put into groups to come up with a theme and design. Corlin and Sharon Feikema, who are building a new golf facility in Sioux Center called RJ's Indoor Golf, judged the students on design, creativity, appearance, and effort.
The Discovery math students had a lot of fun working together doing this hands-on project and sharing their creations with our 1st - 4th grade students, who were invited to play mini-golf during their recess for a few days!
Thank you to Mrs. Andrea Wieringa who leads our Discovery program, and through a variety of enrichments, encourages students to develop critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication.
ART SHOWCASE
Last week, at the Artist Reception of our first Art Showcase in the Centre Mall, students made joyful connections with parents and grandparents as they pointed out their own artistic creations on display.
The variety of art mediums - from pottery to pop art to landscape paintings - show the creative talents God has designed in each of His treasured children and express the joy of imagination and creativity!
Thank you to our art teachers, Mrs. Lori De Jong and Mr. Leroy Berentschot, who design each art unit to teach various creative skills while also pointing to God, the Source of all creativity!
Our Creator God also added to the Art Showcase by providing double rainbows for the last thirty minutes of the Artist Reception! We praise you, God, for using creation to display Your glory and for designing us as YOUR ART, so we may give you glory!

STORYLINE CELEBRATION INFORMATION
- The dress rehearsal for the TK-8th Grade Storyline Celebration is planned right away in the morning on Monday, May 20, at the BJ Haan Auditorium on Dordt’s campus. The buses will be dropping off the students at the auditorium rather than at SCCS that morning. If you drive your son/daughter to school, please drop them off at the BJ Haan Auditorium between 7:55 and 8:10, rather than at school that morning. Students may not ride their bikes, so if your student normally bikes to school, they will need to walk or get a ride to Dordt’s campus. All students will be bused back to school after the rehearsal.
- 4Care students will start their day like normal. 4Care students who ride the bus will be dropped off at the BJ Haan Auditorium and then transported to school. If you drop your 4Care student off at school in the morning, Mrs. Dekkers will be at school to welcome them.
- Storyline Celebration will be held at the BJ Haan Auditorium at Dordt University on Monday, May 20 at 7:00pm. We would like the students to wear their storyline T-shirts with a nice pair of blue jeans or jean shorts. Please have your children at the BJ Haan Auditorium by 6:50 p.m. We will be dismissing by grade level after the program, so please plan to meet your child on the front lawn of the auditorium after the program. We look forward to sharing how we’ve been learning about and worshiping God this year! You may also join our livestream (and recording) at https://www.siouxcenterchristian.com/currentfamilies/livestream.cfm
-
One additional note is that parking is going to be more challenging than usual due to the construction around the BJ Haan, so we are encouraging families to walk or bike to the BJ Haan if it is feasible that evening. If they do drive, we are asking that they park by the Rec Center or on the east side of campus by Covenant Hall in order to leave the spots closest to the BJ Haan available for seniors or those who may have mobility issues.
8TH GRADE CHAPEL AND GRADUATION
- Join us for our final chapel of the year celebrating our 8th graders. We will gather at 8:30 in the gym on Wednesday, May 22.
- 8th Grade Graduation will be at Centerpoint Church on Wednesday, May 22, at 7:00pm. There will be a reception after the ceremony in the Family Life Center at the church where you will have a chance to congratulate the graduates. Congratulations, 8th Graders!
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL AND BUSING
- Our last day of school will be Wednesday, May 22.
- We will dismiss at 11:05. The public school has a full day of school on that day so the public school buses will run in the morning but WILL NOT run at 11:05. Only the SCCS buses (2014 and 2020) will be running their routes at 11:05. All other students will need transportation home from school.
